Job title: Tour of Britain Assistant

Reports to: Tour of Britain Project Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours/week. Fixed term contract for 10 months.

Location: Hammersmith, London

Job Purpose:

The Prostate Cancer Charity is entering its second year as the only official charity partner of The Tour of Britain - the UK’s premier professional cycling road race, offering the general public the exciting opportunity to be part of an iconic national sporting event and the potential to engage with thousands of individuals and communities across the UK. Building upon the success of last year, the partnership will deliver cycling events, known as the Tour Rides in three locations; Staffordshire, London and the South West. The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Rides offer cyclists the opportunity to ride the same route as the professionals, as well as the option to take on shorter routes for challenge and family riders.

The Tour of Britain Assistant will assist the Tour of Britain Project Manager to recruit participants for the events, generate income, raise awareness and increase the profile of the Charity through the Tour Ride events.

1.  Team

The Community Fundraising Team supports individual fundraisers organising their own local fundraising activities and those taking part in sporting events, as well as clubs or associations which are supporting the Charity. The team also manage Movember, a moustache growing event which is currently the Charity’s biggest fundraiser and the Charity’s Tour of Britain flagship cycle rides.

3.  Duties and key responsibilities

·  To communicate and build relationships with Tour of Britain participants and supporters on a daily basis by email, letter and phone, maintaining high standards of customer service.

·  To be responsible for replying to TOB participant’s enquiries within 48 hours in line with the charity’s supporter care guidelines.

·  To assist in recruiting participants for the three Tour Rides.

·  To lead on the support of participants in the run up to the Tour Ride events, sending them fundraising packs, riders’ packs and keeping them regularly informed of developments with the event.

·  Supporting and supervising volunteers at events and in the office where necessary.

·  To maintain high quality data on Artez and The Raiser’s Edge database, through daily data input, ensuring information is gathered from all sources, including external databases, and recorded in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

·  To contribute to achieving Tour of Britain income and awareness targets and supporter care standards.

·  To report regularly, as required, to the Tour of Britain Project Manager on progress against objectives.

·  Provide advice to the general public and colleagues on queries relating to Tour of Britain and keep abreast of developments in the fundraising sector.

·  Carry out research tasks and specific projects as directed to ensure we are optimising our fundraising potential and competing with other charities of a similar size.

·  To provide support at fundraising events out of office hours in evenings and at weekends.
