ROLE PURPOSE:
To service requests for data from third party enquirers and to be involved in other projects related to dissemination of data.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to the Head of Information Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
•Servicing external requests for information from HESA databases, interpreting and agreeing requirements with customers and creating formal offer and agreement documents based on pre-existing templates. Gaining approval from senior colleagues in relation to price, contractual conditions and Data Protection compliance.
•Extracting, manipulating and preparing appropriate and sometimes complex data using HESA’s Business Intelligence software or direct from the HESA databases using PL/SQL programming, and compiling supporting information using existing internal sources.
•To work on a number of requests at a time and be responsible for organising and planning your work to meet agreed deadlines.
•To develop a sound knowledge of the HESA data streams over time and the techniques required to extract and prepare data.
•To contribute ideas to the Head of Information Services for the development of data products and services

PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
•Working towards a higher education level qualification
•Numerate pre-HE qualification
•To be able to develop good working relationships with internal colleagues and external customers
•A clear and confident telephone manner
•Attention to detail
•Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
•High level of numeracy
•To be able to listen to and assimilate information, and convey complex information clearly both orally and in writing to different audiences.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
•Experience of manipulating and/or analysing data
•Some knowledge of and interest in the Higher Education sector
•The ability to work effectively and efficiently when dealing with high volumes and tight deadlines.
•The confidence to communicate with colleagues and external contacts at all levels of seniority
