JOB TITLE:Senior Clinical Administrator (Sydenham)

ANNUAL SALARY:SPS 49 £27,775 – SPS 53 £28,406

Primary Job Purpose:

To be responsible for the line management of the clinical administration team at the Sydenham site including line management of Clinical Administrators in Community, Outpatients, Anniversary Centre, Bereavement, Social Work and Welfare.

To work closely with the Clinical Administration Manager and Senior Administration colleagues, to ensure the provision of an efficient clinical administration service to all clinical teams.

Clinical Administrators work flexibly to cover the clinical admin demands across all clinical areas, including the SPoC service rota, which runs across a 7 day week, 364 days a year. All Clinical Administrators and Senior Clinical Administrators are required to work approximately one weekend day every 6 weeks.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. To maintain strict confidentiality of case information within the department at all times.
  1. To oversee the team of Clinical Administrators, ensuring an effective, efficient and customer focussed administration service is delivered to both internal and external stakeholders.
  1. To deal with telephone calls to the department promptly, sensitively and efficiently, providing an immediate response and referring as necessary. To understand and respect the sensitive nature of calls, particularly those from patients and their relatives.
  1. To record all information concisely and accurately in order to support the clinical team in their assessment.
  1. Provide support for the Clinical Administrators and ensure a fair distribution of workload.
  1. To implement clinical rotas onto the new database, ensuring patient appointment slots are accurate.
  1. To become expert in the use of the electronic patient care record and be a resource to support training for new and existing staff on its use.
  1. To work closely with the Data Manager to compile appropriate reports regarding activity within the clinical areas covered by the post, ensuring data is complete.
  1. To process internal referrals for St Christopher’s services via the electronic patient care record.
  1. To liaise with GPs, acute hospitals and other health professionals, regarding the obtaining of clinical information.
  1. When necessarytake accurate minutes of multi professional meetings and produce, distribute and follow up any actions discussed and agreed.
  1. To co-ordinate annual leave for the clinical administrators and cover for sickness when necessary.
  1. To co-ordinate attendance and duties of volunteers working with the clinical admin team

When delivering care and support, staff are required to comply with the requirements of legislation relating to care in the UK, including the Care Act (2014), and Mental Health Capacity Act 2005, which incorporates the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). In order to achieve this, all staff are required to read St. Christopher’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedure and to participate in both regular training and training updates and to incorporate preventative strategies into their work, as applicable.
