DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of all day-to-day shipyard safety related activities;
  • Review current policies and develop new procedures to improve safety standards;
  • Develop and maintain document control systems and develop evaluation criteria for key metrics;
  • Ensure that all activities conform to health and safety regulations and legislation. A working knowledge of OSHA Regulations and how they would apply to shipyard and maritime industries is required;
  • Maintain library of applicable safety and health rules and regulations, including all training certificates, such as respirator qualifications, crane operator certifications, and shipyard Competent Person qualifications;
  • Enforce all Company policies regarding personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by OSHA and as stipulated in the Company's Responsible Carrier Program and Safety Manuals;
  • Provide guidance and support for personnel hiring initiatives, including employee performance, growth, training and retention and other human resource initiatives;
  • Conduct weekly “Tool Box” Safety training that is both informative and effective;
  • Chair the Safety Committee and implement/improve safety-related programs based on the needs of the company;
  • Inform Executive Management of all issues relating to safety programs and cater these programs to fit the goals of the company;
  • Work tasks include review of drawings and documentation detailing lifesaving appliance locations and arrangements, egress route availability and placement, and provisions for means of escape from properties and vessels. Fire safety aspects include review of overall facility design, classification of structural fire integrity divisions and approval of individual fabrication details and materials used in marine construction;
  • Ensure each project has Safety incorporated into the everyday process. Conduct audits and surveillances of ongoing jobs to ensure compliance to OSHA and GLS approved regulations.

After 90 Days Trial period

ANNUAL SALARY: Discussion Point

PAY PERIOD: Bi-Monthly, on the 15th and last day of each month.

VACATION: Two (2) weeks (10 days) after the first year of employment; three (3) weeks (15 days) after 5-years of employment, per Company policy.

HOLIDAYS: Per Company Policy for shore side employees.

401(k): After one (1) year of service, eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan. Plan is voluntary.

HEALTH & WELFARE: Medical, dental, vision, life, and accident and disability insurances are provided in accordance with Company sponsored Health and Welfare Plan.
