Job Description

Job Title:Policy Development Coordinator

Responsible to:Head of Policy Development

Location:Labour Party Head Office and Palace of Westminster (London)

Key Purpose:To support, and fulfil all administrative duties relating to Labour’s policy development work and the Agenda 2015 process, to support our policy communications functions online and offline, and to provide general administrative support to the Policy and Research Directorate.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Performing administrative duties relating to Labour’s policy development process, Agenda 2015 and the production of the General Election manifesto.
  1. Monitoring and organising incoming policy-related correspondence, supporting the Policy Communications Officers in ensuring an efficient and quick response to policy queries.
  1. Undertaking all administrative functions of the Policy and Research Directorate including maintenance of human resources and financial records, dealing with correspondence, photocopying, taking messages and telephone and e-mail enquiries, organising travel.
  1. Organising meetings, ensuring venues are booked and appropriate arrangements are made.
  1. Assisting with the organisation of meetings of the National Policy Forum and policy commissions.
  1. Assisting with the development of and management of content on Your Britain, Labour’s online policy hub.
  1. Assisting with arrangements for Annual Conference.
  1. Providing research support for Policy and Research Directorate.
  1. Working flexibly within the team and carrying out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Executive Director of Policy and Research and the Head of Policy Development.

Experience of working in a political environment

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent attention to detail

Excellent administrative skills and good analytical skills

Excellent information technology skills, including Windows Microsoft Office, Excel and Access packages

Ability to work on own initiative within a fast-paced environment

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
