Job Title:Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Summary of Post:

Responsibility for developing and implementing marketing plans for KCLSUdepartments alongside the Marketing and Communications Manager.

Responsible for researching the internal and external environment in which KCLSU departments operate.

Maximise participation and/or engagement in KCLSU non-commercial products.

  1. Marketing

The post-holder shall:

  • Research, plan and implement targeted marketing plans, working in conjunction with relevant departments to achieve agreed SMART objectives.
  • In conjunction with KCLSU departments, create dynamic and relevant campaign creative briefs based on agreed SMART objectives.
  • Work with the Graphic Designer to develop and design appropriate marketing collateral.
  • Work closely and pro-actively with KCLSU representative structures e.g. Student Council, to ensure relevant decisions are acted upon in a timely manner.
  • Work with all KCLSU departments to provide pro-active and responsive marketing.
  • Work with existing KCLSUexternal partners.
  • Work closely with fellow KCLSU Marketing and Communications Coordinator to ensure broad knowledge of all KCLSU marketing operations
  • Monitor and analyse results and expenditure.
  • Review best practice and feed back to department.
  • Input into department goals and planning.
  1. Digital

The post-holder shall:

  • Manage content on relevant sections of the KCLSU website.
  • Working with individual departments, ensure the website is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Update information on all KCLSU’s social networking channels.
  • Utilise the member database to segment and target members for digital campaigns.
  • Produce monthly KCLSU newsletters in conjunction with your fellow KCLSUMarketing and Communications Coordinator that promote the impact of KCLSU across all areas.
  • Assist in the development of KCLSU’s digital strategy.
  • Collate monthly reports on digital (kclsu.org and social media) usage.
  1. Research

The post-holder shall:

  • Recruit and manage database of student market research participants.
  • Proactively provide research and trends analysis for KCLSU departments.
  • Provide regular updates on research and market analysis.
  1. KCLSU

The post-holder shall:

  • Assist in the continued realisation of the KCLSU strategy.
  • Adopt a cross-organisational teamwork approach to all KCLSU departments and activities.
  • Assist in the planning, organisation and delivery of KCLSU elections.
  • Support students involved in KCLSU activity.
  • Operate in accordance with health and safety practices and regulations at all times.
  • Operate in accordance with KCLSU governance documentation, policy and guidance at all times.
  • Attend meetings and training events as required.
  • Undertake any other task appropriate for the grade and responsibilities of the post that may from time to time be reasonably requested.
  • Have a flexible approach to duties and work.
  • Adopt a teamwork approach to work across all KCLSU departments and activities.
Notes
The minimum working week for the post is 35 hours. However, due to the nature of the work, actual working hours may exceed this total and may involve some evening and weekend work. This is considered part of the contract and reflected in the grading for the post.
The job description is current at March 2012 and should be reviewed annually. It outlines the main duties of the position and is designed for the benefit of both the post holder and KCLSU in understanding the prime functions of the post. It should not be regarded as exclusive or exhaustive. In particular, given the grading and nature of the post, the responsibilities of, the post holder may well change from time to time. The post-holder may, from time to time, be required to be based at and/or work from any King’s College London site.
