Job Title: ICT Configuration Analyst

Location: Glasgow Salary: circa £20,000

The ICT Configuration Analyst will be responsible for maintaining the ICT Operation CMDB & Operations SAM. The ICT Configuration Analyst will also be responsible for maintaining CI items both hardware & software assets.
This role is within a continually changing environment, requiring the ability to organise a challenging workload coupled with the flexibility to deal with a continual change in priorities to meet the business needs.
The main duties of the role will include:
Job Purpose
  • Maintain ICT Operation CMDB (Configuration Mgt Database)
  • Maintain ICT Operations SAM (Software Asset Management Database)
  • Maintain & control hardware & software assets.
  • Report all incidents of non-compliance to ICT Service Transition Manager
  • Support other ICT Infrastructure disciplines
Key Accountabilities
  • Maintain the CMDB & SAM with a high standard of accuracy where all ICT services & Infrastructure components are recorded & monitored for company wide use.
  • Liaise with the other ICT Operations SLC departments, specifically Procurement & Finance, to ensure all items are correctly recorded.
  • Maintain the ICT Configuration Management procedures, working instructions & workflows.
  • Provide accurate information on hardware, software / licenses & their documentation to support all other service management processes and purchase decisions.
  • Provide management reports on a regular & ad-hoc basis.
  • Monitor & analyse Altiris, Vspher, Tripwire or BMC data to determine requirements for software removal or upgrade.
  • Manage the software library - media updates, booking software in & out
  • Conduct ad-hoc audits of equipment in Comms Rooms, analyse any hardware anomalies in the CMDB & discuss / resolve with relevant support teams.
  • Be responsible for the CMDB & SAM structure working with colleagues as appropriate to ensure it is fit for purpose to accommodate ongoing requirements.
  • Maintain 3rd party hardware maintenance details within the CMDB & inform support & finance teams of contract expiry & renewals.
  • Verify the CI records against the Infrastructure & correct any exceptions
  • Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications
  • ITIL Foundation V3 accreditation
  • Experience of Assyst application or equivalent tool
  • Experience of Phoenix Dashboard or equivalent SAM
  • Experience of Altiris or equivalent discovery tools
  • Experience in the use of Crystal Reports or equivalent reporting tool
  • Experience of working to set procedures
  • Ability to be proactive and use initiative
