JOB TITLE:Home Support ServicesManager

The Home Services Support Manager is directly accountable to the Chief Executive of Age UK Doncaster.

In conjunction with the Chief Executive, Finance Manager, Day Services Manager and Training Manager this post forms part of the Senior Management Team of Age UK Doncaster. As a member of this team the post-holder will be expected to play an active role in the development and implementation of the strategic goals of Age UK Doncaster.

As the senior manager responsible for all Home Support Services the post-holder will be the line manager for the senior staff within the division. Details of the current portfolio of services are appended to this job description.

Job Purpose:

  1. To provide leadership and strategic direction to Age UK Doncaster’s Home Support Services
  1. Through the effective and efficient management of staff and resources to ensure that the Home Support Services operate to the quality standards and values determined by Age UK Doncaster
  1. To ensure compliance with all legal, contractual and regulatory responsibilities for these services
  1. To ensure that Home Support Services operate within the agreed budget as determined by the Board of Directors
  1. To play a lead role in the commercial development, marketing and promotion of existing or new Home Support Services
  1. To play an active role within the senior managers group within Age UK Doncaster

Main Duties:

  1. Management of People

[a]To provide line management support for senior staff within the Home Support Services division. This line management will be conducted within the requirements of Age UK Doncaster’s performance management and supervision policies. It will involve the assessment of performance and identifying development proposals in line with current objectives

[b]To ensure that the staffing levels and skill mix are reviewed frequently to ensure compliance with agreed levels of service and operational requirements. This will include monitoring the recruitment process to ensure best practice is maintained.

[c]As a member of the senior management group to undertake any duties that may arise in the operation of human resources policies and procedures with respect to other employees of Age UK Doncaster

[d]To ensure that all staff within the division receive appropriate training to enable them to carry out their duties efficiently and with due regard to health and safety requirements both in regard to themselves, colleagues, service users and members of the public

  1. Management of Services

[a]To work with senior staff within Home Support Services to ensure that all parts of the service perform in line with the agreed targets in Age UK Doncaster’s strategic plan. This will include the development and monitoring of a range of Key Performance Indicators which will be reported on to the Board of Directors.

[b]To ensure that Home Support Services comply at all times with the quality standards of Age UK Doncasterthe regulatory requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC] and all other contract specifications or legal requirements that may arise.

[c]To ensure that all quality monitoring is undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the Board of Directors of Age UK Doncaster

[d]To ensure that all service user concerns and complaints are resolved in line with Age UK Doncaster’s complaints procedures

[e]To play a lead role in preparing the service and its staff for all external monitoring as required by contracting and regulating bodies

  1. Financial and Resource Management

[a] To ensure that Home Support Services meets its budgetary requirements as determined by the Board of Directors. This will involve monitoring income and expenditure for individual cost centres in conjunction with the Chief Executive and Finance Manager on a monthly basis to ensure that they operate within agreed parameters.

[b]To ensure the efficient deployment and management of all resources required for the safe operation and quality of delivery of Home Support Services.

  1. Development and Strategic Planning

[a]As part of the senior management team to play an active role in the development of Age UK Doncaster’s strategic plan and to ensure that staffwithin the Home Support Services division and service users are involved in the production of divisional objectives

[b]As required to play an active role in the production of funding applications including tender documents and appeals to private and corporate donors

[c]To play a proactive role in identifying areas of unmet need amongst older people in Doncaster and to work with other staff and organisations and older people themselves to develop any appropriate Home Support Services.

[d]To work with senior staff in statutory, voluntary or private sector organisations to promote the interests of older people both through informal contacts and through membership of outside bodies

[b]To maintain a good theoretical knowledge of current issues whether national or local which impact on the lives of older people

[c]A commitment to continuous improvement through working with the Chief Executive in identifying personal and professional development needs and play an active part in seeking to meet them. This will include undertaking any training which may be identified

  1. Leadership

[a]To provide effective leadership for the Home Services Support division

[b]To offer clarity of vision in the development and delivery of organisational and team goals and an ability to communicate these effectively to staff, volunteers and service users.

[c]As part of the senior management team to provide clear leadership for all the staff and volunteers on the achievement of the organisation’s mission statement in line with its statement of values.

Hours of work:

As a senior officer within Age UK Doncaster the post-holder is expected to show flexibility in the exact hours worked as these may vary according to the needs of the service and the organisation. Due to the nature of this service the post-holder will be expected to undertake evening and weekend duties for which time of in lieu will be granted. However normal working hours at 36¼ hours per week Monday to Friday.

Salary:£27,274 - £30,002 per annum
