Job Title:Family Practitioner Grade 1

Reporting to:Senior Family Practitioner

Salary:£16,232 per annum

Hours of Work:37 hours per week

Location: Tamar FOLK Children’s Centre, Trelawney Avenue, St Budeaux, Plymouth. PL5 1RH

JOB PURPOSE:

To support the effective day to day running of Children’s Centre Services. 4Children Children’s Centres deliver services to support families with children under 5. Services include both universal and targeted support through group work and one to one interventions.

The postholder will support the delivery of services to improve outcomes for families and have a positive impact on their lives.

JOB ACTIVITIES:

  1. To plan, deliver and evaluate the effectiveness of children centre services.
  1. To plan, set up and deliver group activities for families.
  1. To record evidence of impact on children and families through tracking and case studies.
  1. To work with children and families registered with the Children’s Centre, to establish their baseline of need using a range of methods including Soft Outcomes Universal Learning (SOUL) and to track their journey and progress.
  1. To be the first point of contact for all Children Centre visitors, especially children and families. Dealing with and recording general enquiries, providing advice and support where necessary.
  1. To facilitate services within the Children’s Centre, ensuring health and safety and safeguarding policies are adhered to at all times.
  1. To work with Partners and Colleagues in planning, booking and delivering services within the centre. Liaising with the Mobile Early Educators Team (MEET) to book crèches where necessary.
  1. Office duties including word-processing, photocopying and printing, filing, mailouts, correspondence, telephone calls, finance including petty cash and procurement.
  1. To consult with children, families and other partners to evidence need and identify gaps in services.
  1. To support the Governance of the Children’s Centre.
  1. To accurately maintain and update data management systems used by 4Children. This may include the Estart database, Softsmart, Children Centre Management System (CCSM).
  1. To ensure the Children’s Centre Building / Outreach site is fit for purpose in line with 4Children’s policies.
  1. To follow procedures to ensure the safeguarding of children and families at all times.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  1. Level 3 qualified or equivalent
  1. Experience of working with children and families on a one to one basis and in a group environment, targeting those families that are most vulnerable.
  1. A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  1. Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  1. Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce concise and accurate reports.
  1. Appreciation of the importance of customer care.
  1. A flexible and enthusiastic manner, with a go getting attitude.
  1. Experience of working with a wide variety of people and organisations in a multiagency environment.
  1. A methodical and efficient approach to tasks, with good attention to detail and the ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  1. A good level of computer literacy, including word-processing, spreadsheets and inputting data, plus a willingness to expand knowledge and training.
  1. Experience of setting up and maintaining of electronic and manual filing systems
  1. Excellent organisational skills.
  1. Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines whilst under pressure, working in a fast moving/changing environment.
  1. An understanding of the issues concerning equal opportunities and a commitment to working within an equal opportunities environment.
  1. Car insurance to include business use.
  1. Regular declarations completed for insurance purposes for use of any 4Children vehicles.
  1. Working flexibly according to the needs of the community this may include flexibility of working hours including evening, weekends etc.

30 days per year plus Bank Holidays. 2 days of your annual leave entitlement will need to be taken at the Christmas period.

The appointment of Family Practitioner Grade 1 is on 4Children Pay Grade 2. Pay Grade 2 commences at scale point 14 (£16,232per annum FTE) and rises to scale point 20 (£19,048per annum FTE) via incremental progression.

Salaries are paid by direct debit into the staff member’s nominated bank account on the 15th day of each month.
