The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Events Coordinator to fill a key post within the life of our busy church on the edge of the City of London.

The church and accompanying spaces are available for hire and host a wide range of events including wedding receptions, press briefings and filming, exhibitions, networking and corporate events, concerts and university examinations. Our ability to rent out these spaces supports the church’s broader mission and helps maintain this Grade II listed building for future generations.

In addition, the events coordinator role will help with the planning and organisation of church family events to further the mission of the church.

This is a client-facing role, where you are required to provide a professional service to all who visit the church and the variety of clients looking to use the Church and Crypt on the Green as an event space. You will need to work alongside the broader staff team, church and local community in order to protect the reputation of the church and its building.

This is a varied role, with primary key tasks that include: advertising the venue, managing prospective and regular client relationships, scheduling events and viewings, assembling quotes and pricing options, managing the administration and processes for each event from end-to-end.

Venue Hire and Events Management

-Promptly respond to all venue hire enquiries to increase the prospect of converting them into paying clients

-Show potential clients around the church and other venue spaces

-Manage the relationships associated with the events to ensure the clients, church community and neighbours are all working effectively together

-Provide cost quotes and packages for clients

-Manage the platforms used to market Crypt on the Green (Canvas, Headbox and Hire Space)

-Coordinate with staff members to help plan and facilitate events

-Manage enquires via phone and email

-Ensure the security of both the church and Crypt at all times

-Manage the cleaning schedule to ensure the facilities are cleaned after events

-Coordinate security staff scheduling for after hours events and on weekends

-Work with the Church Manager and Vicar to oversee parochial events including wedding ceremonies and blessings, baptisms and funerals

There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the post-holder is a Christian and will consider becoming a member of Saint James congregation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The events coordinator at JC will play a pivotal role in the life of the church and in supporting the ministry team. Ideally, the successful applicant will have some experience in office administration, have excellent communication (written and oral), organizational and IT skills, and be keen to work as part of a diverse team, as well as working effectively on their own. You will be excellent at managing your own time with minimal supervision.

As a committed Christian, you will be keen to get involved with and to be part of the JC church family.
