Purpose of job

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of community and events fundraising work at Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. As the Community Engagement and Events Fundraiser, the postholder will have the opportunity to help us make a real difference through raising vital funds for our support and education programmes for those affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to help the team maximise income while providing support to our fundraisers, who are the backbone of our organisation, many of whom have been through a cervical cancer diagnosis or have lost someone to the illness.

The post holder will be outgoing and keen to get out of the office, building community relationships and drive forward income generation. They will manage our small challenge events programme (including running, cycling and triathlon events), providing high level supporter care to our events participants and promoting the events online.They will lead on organising our annual UK event, Steps for Jo’s, and develop new sources of incomefrom community organisations. The postholder should have 2 years fundraising experience.

Key tasks and responsibilities / Key elements
Events /
  • Plan and manage the charity’s main annual fundraising event, Steps for Jo’s, with the support of the Fundraising team (inc stewarding participants)
  • Support the charity’s main challenge event series, Women v Cancer
  • Recruit, register and support fundraisers for our UK challenge / running events (e.g. London 10K, Great North Run, Brighton Marathon)
  • Work with the Communications team to
  • Develop creative and innovative ways to support fundraisers and promote fundraising activities
  • run social media adverts and campaigns
  • Regularly liaising with challenge events companies to ensure the charity’s webpages are up to date
  • Analyse the impact of current fundraising events,undertake review and make recommendations for taking on new events
  • Work with the Fundraising Officer to run ad hoc activities, supported by volunteers
  • Represent the charity at external events when required.

Supporter care /
  • Build positive relationships with fundraisers
  • Implement communication plans for supporters to ensure they receive the highest level of care
  • Ensure all information on the charity’s webpages isup to date
  • Help find suitable fundraising case studies to enhance the charity’s campaigning and communication objectives
  • Ensure that supporter details are up to date on the charity’s CRM system (salesforce.com) and use same to effectively manage relationships.

Community /
  • Develop links and identify fundraising initiatives to engage withcommunity organisations such as sports clubs, university RAG societies, business women’s networks andRotaries
  • Conduct regular compelling presentations
  • Meet and thank our fundraisers and represent Jo’s at cheque presentationsand events when required
  • Work with all departments to maximise existing campaigns.

Miscellaneous /
  • Recruit volunteers to assist you with fundraising activities
  • Keep up to date with fundraising practice, including contact with other charities
  • Due to the nature of attending events, you will sometimes be asked to work outside of office hours and travel outside of London

Person specification

Essential / Desirable
  • Degree level or equivalent (including English and Mathematics to GCSE)

  • Previous fundraising experience
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of building relationships
  • Experience of donor care or customer service for supporters
  • Enthusiastic and driven
  • Creative and willing to take initiative
  • Experience of working with a database or CRM system.

Full terms and conditions

Salary:£24,000 to £27,000

Hours:Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Permanent. Core office hours are 09:00 to

17:30 Monday to Friday. The post will involve some weekend and evening

work for which time off in lieu may be taken.

Annual leave:Holiday entitlement is 25 days pro rata plus statutory bank holidays.
