Primary Objective

The CDEPRU Coordinator is responsible for developing innovative training programs, providing support and guidance to selected remote CDEP providers, gaining community ownership of proposed training programs and assisting with the implementation of targeted FaHCSIA funded training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the stakeholder relationships which include and are not limited to: Internal stakeholders, FaHCSIA State & National Office, industry, DEEWER, DFEEST, TAFE SA, Indigenous groups and organisations, government bodies, community organisations and community members.
  • Develop, implement and manage training programs in selected communities that utilise TAFESA Literacy resources to assist in the effective delivery of programs aligned to community aspirations, supported by external agencies/employers and achieve accelerated training outcomes for CDEP participants.
  • Visit communities and implement targeted FaHCSIA funding training initiatives that assist CDEP participants with their community development.
  • Coordinate all CDEP projects and activities with the Manager of Policy and Planning and the external stakeholders including community organisations and community members.
  • Work closely with the faculties and various departments on training solutions and initiatives that benefit CDEP participants.
  • Provide advice and support to the CDEP participants and community organisations.
  • Identify resources and training requirements that are available or needed to CDEP participants specific to the different communities.
  • Coordinate and promote community support through regular follow up meetings, effective communication and administration.
  • Ensure all CDEP participant activities are conducted and comply with Workplace Health and Safety practices.
  • Assist the Group Manager Business Development Policy and Planning in the preparation and acquittal of budgets for each approved community development employment project.
  • Collect information as required and submit monthly reports to the Group Manager Business Development, Policy and Planning against the approved projects.
  • Provide regular reports to FaHCSIA.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor a CDEP Asset Register.
  • Other duties as directed by the Group Manager Business Development Policy and Planning

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Education, training and/ or relevant experience equivalent to a degree in a relevant discipline in conjunction with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience.
  • Sound knowledge of and a commitment to equal employment opportunity especially as it relates to Aboriginal and Torres Strait employees.
  • Demonstrated high ability to communicate, negotiate and present in a strategic manner with CDEP participants, community leaders, external stakeholders and senior management of Batchelor Institute.
  • Demonstrated management and financial responsibility of projects including the achievement of outcomes and performance targets.
  • Leadership, mentoring and supervision experience with the ability to work within a team.
  • Hold a current NT Driver’s licence (preferably LR or higher); hold or be able to an Ochre Card.

Desirable:

  • Experience of relevant legislation as it relates to cultural matters.
  • Knowledge of training and development.
