Anonymous Donor Provides Public Library Nook Color eReaders for Summer Reading Prizes

Cincinnati, OH ─ March 11, 2011: The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County has received a gift of $30,000 from an anonymous donor. The gift was given in honor of the Library’s Executive Director Kim Fender for ‘her leadership, service and contributions to our community as recognized by the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, who named her a 2011 Woman of Distinction!’ This generous gift will be used to purchase 123 Nook Colors for the 2011 Summer Reading Program.

Three Nook Colors will be given at each of the Library’s 41 locations to the school-age child, teen, and adult who reads the most books between June 1 and July 31. “I am thrilled with this amazing gift and deeply grateful for the generosity of our donor,” said Ms. Fender. “Having these eReaders as prizes for our Summer Reading Program will really emphasize the importance of reading and will provide access to the convenient format of eBooks for some of our most dedicated readers.”
