Job Title:Caretaker / Handyperson

Location:Park Street Activity Centre, Lincoln. LN1 1UQ.

Hours of work:37.5 per week (This is a full time position but a job share may be considered)

Responsible to:Activity Centre Manager

Job Purpose:

To ensure that Park Street Activity Centre and its environments are well maintained and fit for purpose. Ensure that the Centre is prepared for each day’s trading and activities.

Main Tasks:

Key Areas

  • The maintenance of Park Street Centre and its environments ensuring the centre is fit for purpose.
  • Ensuring that the centre is prepared for each day’s trading and activities.
  • Site Auditing and Reporting.
  • Health & Safety, First Aid & Lead Fire Warden.
  • Key Holder and Responder.

Key Responsibilities

  • The opening and deactivating of alarms on the premises.
  • The preparation of refuse areas ready for a weekly collection.
  • The execution of general maintenance tasks.
  • Carrying out weekly building inspections, maintenance of the Centre’s log book and the notification of any works that need to be carried out or any potential Health & Safety issues.
  • Attend Health & Safety meetings.
  • Lead Fire Warden at the premises.
  • The carrying out of weekly checks to include Fire and Intruder alarm and emergency lighting along with various other visual checks.
  • Ensure that the Fire Escapes are maintained and fit for purpose.
  • To carry out water and heating control checks
  • Receiving delivers for restaurant and checking.
  • To carry out general cleaning duties when the Centre’s cleaners are absent.
  • Responsible First Aider for the premises.

General

  • Any other duties as can be reasonably requested by the Centre Manager.
  • To adhere to Age UK Lincoln & Kesteven’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Proactive in ensuring all environmental hazards are responded to immediately.
  • Repair anything that becomes damaged/worn out.
  • Maintenance and general upkeep of premises including decorating.

Health & Safety

  • Ensuring that equipment meets environmental, hygiene and safety requirements and that statutory inspections and cleaning are carried out.
  • To maintain high standards of cleanliness at all times.
  • Continually monitor and manage risk.
