Job title: / Senior Youth WorkerSalary: / £18,000upwardsannually (depending on experience & qualifications)
Reports to: / Area 2 City Lead
Line Manages: / Session youth workers and adult volunteers
Hours: / 37 hours a week including 5 evenings a week.
Annual leave: / 28 days including bank holidays

Job Purpose:
- To Lead youth clubs and events that are inspiring and creative attracting young people and helping them to grow and develop using our values of welcome, challenge and equip.
- Support the Area leads to pioneer new areas of work within Derby, Nottingham, Ilkeston, and Mansfield District helping to identify and develop local volunteers, sessional workers and local leaders for the clubs.
- Complete any reports and admin associated with monitoring for the clubs to help report to funders secure future funding and measure our progress
- Work as a supportive and synergistic member of our team helping and encouraging others and asking for and accepting the support of the team where needed.

- Understand and embrace the importance of mentoring to our organisation and where needed support and mentor young people on our program
- Form part of the leadership team for area 1 and 2 setting an example to others and welcoming challenging and equipping other staff on our team
- Pioneer and identify other needs we can meet coming up with creative solutions to meet the needs of young people and the team
- Contribute and lead team meetings to enable us to achieve our vision

Senior Youth Worker - Person Specification
Essential
Skills and Abilities /- 3 years’ experience of youth & community work or similar
- An NVQ level 2 or equivalent in youth work or a related discipline
- 12 months team leading/management
- Ability to build constructive relationships with young people in groups and on an individual basis
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Effective communication skills including report writing and presentations
- Excellent listening skills
- Initiative and the ability to progress work tasks without day to day supervision
- Flexible approach and the ability to work under pressure with a varied workload
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and their requirements
- Ability to work 5 evenings a week and occasional weekends
- Proficient in using IT including email, Microsoft Word and Xcel.
Knowledge /
- Understanding of the needs of young people facing multi-disadvantage
- Knowledge of child protection procedures
- Knowledge of anti-discriminatory practice
- An understanding of equal opportunities and a commitment to the implementation of Enthusiasm’s Equality and Diversity Policy
Experience /
- Substantial experience of working with young people in disadvantaged communities
- Experience of working within an integrated processes framework including involvement in detailed assessments (CAF/Early Help Assessments)
- Experience of planning/developing programmes of work with male young people
Other /
- Ability to work within Enthusiasm’s ethos
- Acceptable enhanced DBS clearance (formerly CRB check)
- Full Driving Licence and able to drive round Derby, Nottingham, Ilkeston and Mansfield District.
Desired
General /- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a Social Discipline Eg. Youth Work or related discipline (or higher)
- Understanding of issues facing deprived communities and group offending/gangs
- Experience of multi-agency working.
- First Aid certificate
