HR Generalist – Marine Credit Union

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for performing general HR support to Marine Credit Union staff, including assistance with: the maintenance of employee personnel records, reporting, on-boarding, retention initiatives, HR process/policy updates and audits, performance management initiatives, and employee relations matters. The HR Generalist acts to also assist the department as a primary HRIS Administrator and backup for Benefits Administration, Payroll Processing, and Recruitment. Provides support to Chief Human Resources Officer.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carries out HR orientation training as needed.
  • Acts as the primary administrator for company HRIS system.
  • Administrates company Fleet Vehicle policy, including maintenance of MVR Records and the Regular Driver’s List.
  • Answer general questions regarding compensation, benefits, payroll, and other pertinent information for managers and/or employees.
  • Helps with Compensation Management activity, including Job Analyses, Job Evaluation, creation/maintenance of Job Descriptions, and compensation structuring.
  • Assists as a backup for Benefits Administration and payroll processing activities.
  • Conducts quarterly audits of hourly employee schedules in the timekeeping system.
  • Helps manage employee relations, performance, and disciplinary issues.
  • Tracks, edits, audits and/or approves company Annual Appraisals and Monthly Performance Reviews.
  • Helps to distribute, collate, and analyze company survey information, including internal Customer Satisfaction, Exit Interview, and Employee Engagement surveys. Analyze results and make recommendations for action.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of HR functions, including Staffing, Employee Relations, Benefits, Compliance and Compensation.
  • Proficient skills in all MS-Office Products. Skilled in MS-Excel and Reporting.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Employment Laws.
  • Expertise in using HRIS, payroll and timekeeping systems a plus.
  • Ability to present information in front of small groups.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of Human Resource experience preferred.
  • HR experience in Employee Relations, Reporting, Compliance, Benefits, Staffing, and Compensation functional areas all desired.
  • Experience working with HRIS, timekeeping and/or payroll systems desired.
  • Experience orienting new employees a plus.
  • Experience managing workplace environment projects a plus, including those related to employee morale, engagement, development, and retention.
