Post title: Health & Social Care Lecturer– Full time

Based at: St Austell with some teaching required at Camborne

Reports to:Team Leader/Curriculum Leader

Responsible for: Academic and Support Staff as necessary

Grade/salary scale:Scale Point: CC34- 41

Generic role of post:

TheLecturer is responsible for student tuition and managing the student learning experience through formal education delivery, taking a role in course organisation and all related matters.

The College framework is to encourage team working where Lecturers, Course Managers, Team Leads and Curriculum Leaders work together in a supportive framework to provide the best learning experience for our students.

Specific duties:
  1. Deliver education and training,working toan agreed number of contact hours annually, to include student assessment as required.
  2. Produce and develop teaching and learning materials as required, working to Awarding Body standards at all times.
  3. Act as a Course Manager of discrete courses, maintaining responsibility for:
  • Course selection, design, development, approval and currency
  • Course promotional materials and marketing
  • Leading and managing course teams
  • Lesson organisation and administration
  • Student induction, pastoral care and support
  • Curriculum quality and standards, in conjunction with Curriculum Leadand Team lead as required
  • Internal verification and moderation
  • Participation in staff development and appraisal processes
  1. Any other duties as required as may, from time to time, be deemed appropriate to the level and grade of the post. This may occasionally involve cover, by agreement and consultation, for absent colleagues.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Must have a Stage 3 teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent)
  • Must have a recognised Social Care or Health Studies qualification at a minimum of level 6or equivalent.eg: BSc Health and Social Care, BSc Health Studies.
  • Extensive vocational experience within either the Health or Social Care Sectors eg: Registered General Nurse. Midwifery. Registered manager.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD reflecting recent developments within Healthcare practice

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in adult literacy and/or numeracy subject support.
  • Verifier IQA qualifications or equivalent.
  • Experience and understanding of Dementia care and health implications
  • First Aid at Work trained to level 3 or be willing to qualify and experience of delivery.
Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive relevant vocational experience within the Healthcare Sector
  • Developed ability to deliver at FE levels 2-5
  • In depth knowledge ofall matters related to current issues within the Healthcare sector.
  • Demonstrable experience as a recognised subject specialist and exemplar. Particular emphasis on physiology, health conditions, dementia, NHS, nursing or associated disciplines.
  • Creative and innovative approach to teaching and learning, particularly at engaging learners at higher levels
  • Extensive teaching experience within the FE sector and knowledge of study programmes.

Desirable:

  • Experience of delivering at levels 4-6 including HE
  • Experience of working with BTEC qualifications
  • Experience of Internal verification /moderation procedures
  • Experience of working within Dementia care
  • Experience of gaining high achievement rates with learners (including high grade profiles); embedding health related employability skills and organising work experience; learning companies or employer engaged activities.
  • Experience of advanced health related technologies to deliver advance skills in NHS or Social Care and/or Ehealth and Wellbeing approaches.

  • Must enjoy teaching and learning processes with learners aged 16-19 years and take a positive and optimistic approach to working in the FE community and developing our students.
