Job Title: IT Services Specialist – Network Administrator April 2011

Department: Information Systems Exempt

Job Reports To: CEO

Job Summary: Serves as the primary coordinator in the conduct of day-to-day IT operational and support activities. Is the primary coordinating technical support person for HHC’s IT infrastructure technology including computer and network equipment, Operating Systems, Data Center operations, security and related facilities. Is the primary technical liaison with HHC’s IT Infrastructure vendors (Microsoft, NetScreen, Cisco, ISP, and others) for coordination of IT infrastructure and related services. Also performs the duties of the IT Services Specialist – IT Systems when needed based on scheduling and work schedule considerations. In that capacity, serves as the coordinator for systems related company initiatives with emphasis on clinical and financial systems services including but not limited to EHS Practice Management and Electronic Health Record, Televox Automatic Call System, MIP Accounting/Purchasing, ADP Payroll/Personnel system support and ongoing upgrades. Assists senior management in the development of new IT initiatives including strategy, plans, schedules and helps develop approaches to enhance company capabilities for user support.


Essential duties and Responsibilities:

Ø  Coordinate, plan and schedule day-to-day IT/ helpdesk functions for an environment of approximately 200 users. Actively assist as required by volume/staffing impacts.

Ø  Conducts need assessment and identifies new/replacement equipment requirements; coordinates with Accounting and Purchasing for order placement and fulfillment.

Ø  Plan and assist in the conduct of nightly and weekly server restarts and normal maintenance to insure optimal uptime and performance.

Ø  Confers with users and IT personnel to develop new approaches or alternatives to ensure that user assistance is being provided effectively and efficiently.

Ø  Maintains records, logs and reports of assistance. Assists COO in development of quarterly IT COO reporting.

Ø  Maintains network and PC preventive maintenance logging efforts to ensure network and data integrity.

Ø  Coordinate, plan and schedule required technical and application systems upgrades and enhancements.

Ø  Assists COO in the evaluation of new software applications for adherence to HHC IT standards.

Ø  Develops and writes department’s staff operational procedures.

Ø  Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Must be able to demonstrate ability to plan, schedule and coordinate day-to-day IT support activities including all IT systems and infrastructure components to ensure critical systems availability and performance, equipment repair/replacement, software maintenance and other customer requests. Must be able to demonstrate management knowledge of HHC IT infrastructure components including Microsoft OS (Windows 2K3/2K8 Server, Exchange, Active Directory, XP-Pro, XPe, IE etc.), Citrix, Cisco, and other enabling technologies. Incumbent must also possess excellent customer service, verbal and written skills. Must be able to communicate politely and courteously with people from different socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, be industrious and have good communication skills. Also must be able to establish and maintain harmonious, productive working relationships with Center’s management, physicians, clinicians, and general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

Incumbent must possess a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of two years working in a technical operating capacity or a minimum of four years work experience focusing on IT infrastructure support operations. Must be able to competently perform all position duties and responsibilities as detailed in this job description. Must be able to handle moderate physical activity, including handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than two (2) hours per day. Must be able to speak and listen over the telephone to conduct troubleshooting activities.
