Job Description – Committee Member

A Young Life Committee Member will receive:

  1. The opportunity to be a part of an effective and exciting mission,
  2. The opportunity to be stretched, challenged and nurtured in their faith,
  3. Training in the duties and responsibilities of a committee member,
  4. The opportunity to see God work in and through them.

A Young Life Committee Member is someone who:

  1. Diligently pursues growth in his/her relationship with Jesus,
  2. Regularly attends a local church,
  3. Prays for the ministry of Young Life and those involved,
  4. Invests his/her God given Talents, Treasures, and Time in the ministry of Young Life,
  5. Has read, understands and agrees with Young Life’s Mission Statement and Statement of Faith.

A Young Life Committee Member will:

  1. Pursue and maintain healthy and encouraging relationships with the Young Life staff, committee members and volunteers,
  2. Attend all scheduled committee meetings unless otherwise discussed with committee chairman or staff,
  3. Take on a specific task/role/area of responsibility as discussed with and/or assigned by the committee chairman and/or staff,
  4. Engage in ownership and participation in area fundraisers,
  5. Attend at least one local ministry outreach event per school year,
  6. Care for the needs of the area’s staff and volunteers,
  7. Participate in the growth and development of the ministry in St. Mary’s County, including financial planning, fundraising, recruitment and community awareness,
  8. Attend the annual Committee/Leadership Weekend over Labor Day Weekend at Rockbridgeand/or the Regional Committee Training Day in the Spring,
  9. Participate in ongoing training and evaluations with the committee chairman and/or staff,
  10. Be committed to their role as a Young Life Committee Member for at least 2 yearsafter a one year trial period (cycling on-off during the summer).

A Young Life Member may:

  1. Attend area and regional training, prayer days and other events,
  2. Attend and/or host adult guest camping trips,
  3. Participate in the PACE program with a volunteer leader,
  4. Participate in any additional responsibilities as discussed with the committee chairman and/or staff.
