Jennifer Cortner has over 20 years experience as a media communications, business development and business management executive.

Currently, Jennifer is Vice President of Partnershipsat The Agency, Discovery Communications’ in-house agency. Jennifer helps lead a 200-person agency that oversees the strategy, media planning and creative execution of advertising and marketing campaigns for Discovery’s family of networks to include Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Science, and Investigation Discovery. The Agency’s work has been well recognized for their creative and innovative work particularly in the digital space and in 2012, they were awarded In-House Agency of the Year by the In House Agency Forum.

In her role, Jennifer leads Corporate Partnerships including media, affinity/social responsibility and university. She also oversees the Agency’s US Hispanic Task Force, leading the effort to engage and increase our viewership amongst the growing US Hispanic demographic. Additionally she oversees digital and print production, and the Agency’s operations.

Jennifer has a proven track record in working with clients to develop strategic communications and advertising campaigns, overseeing the creative and production process across multiple media platforms.

Prior to Discovery, Jennifer was President and co-owner of EFX Media, a media communications firm specializing in creating television and interactive media campaigns for Washington-area corporations, trade associations and non-profit organizationsAOL, UN Foundation, the National Science Foundation, Booz Allen Hamilton, The Nature Conservancy.

Jennifer is extremely active in the DC-area business and non-profit community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington Area Women’s Foundation, and has served on their Executive Committee and chaired their Communications Committee. She is recently served 2-year term as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the In House Agency Forum, a professional association of over 180 in-house agencies from around the country. She is also a past president of the DC Chapter of Women in Film and Video.

Jennifer has received multiple leadership awards in her career to include the Washington Business Journal’s Woman Who Means Business Award, A Woman of VisionAward from Women in Film and Video and a Distinguished Leadership Award from the International Television Association. She has helped her teams win a variety of creative and business recognition awards to include the In House Agency of the Year award for Discovery’s Agency as well as multiple Addy, CINE and Promax awards through the years.
