Job purpose / The purpose of this role is to raise income from trusts, foundations and grant-making bodies (including corporate trusts) for restricted and unrestricted funds. Working effectively as a member of WWV’s small team to maximize short and long-term income for our programmes supporting disadvantaged people.

Background:

WWV is the leading charity in the UK specializing in the use of volunteering as a tool to help some of the most socially excluded groups to re-connect with society, to improve mental and physical wellbeing, and to support the transition to education and employment. Our primary programmes focus on disadvantaged young people and their families, people leaving prison, and wounded and injured service personnel.

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our small fundraising team to develop and grow our base of trusts and foundations funders. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the right skills and commitment to make a major difference to a small charity with significant potential for growth, which is making a real difference to vulnerable and marginalized people’s lives across the UK.

Key responsibilities:

·  Work to generate unrestricted and restricted funds for WWV’s programmes from trusts and foundations, towards an agreed income target.

·  Submit high quality, well researched and well targeted proposals to donors that meet WWV’s funding priorities.

·  Develop effective relationships with trusts and foundation contacts and managing relationships with funders.

·  Monitor reporting requirements for trusts and foundations and take responsibility for providing accurate and timely responses to their requests, using information compiled by the programmes team.

·  Manage existing relationships with trusts and foundations to ensure that funders are aware of project performance and receive regular updates.

·  Remain proactive in fundraising networking, keeping abreast of changes and new developments within the fundraising environment.

·  Represent WWV at external meetings when appropriate.

·  Ensure that the organisational databases and files are kept up-to-date with all funder information, and that this information is shared across the WWV team.

·  Provide reports to the Director to enable tracking of pipeline proposals and potential income.

·  Research new trusts and foundations in the UK which might fund WWV’s work.

·  Perform other work as WWV may reasonably require.

Person specification

Essential / Desirable
Proven ability and competencies / Strong experience of compiling successful applications to trusts and statutory funders.
Ability to work with programme team to obtain information required to produce engaging and accurate proporsals and reports.
Excellent and compelling writing skills, an ability to produce written material of the highest quality.
Sound experience and understanding of what it takes to build relationships with donors.
Experience of researching and identifying new trusts and foundations.
Experience of working with high value donors. / Knowledge or experience of working in the charity sector.
Qualified in a relevant area to degree level.
Other skills and abilities / Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to summarise and present complex information to a wide range of audiences.
An analytical and methodical approach with the ability to produce accurate work to a high professional standard.
Excellent organisational skills with the abilty to manage a complex workload, prioritise competing demands, and meet deadlines. / High level of IT skills especially in MS Office including ability to develop and maintain information systems and to share these with others.
High level administrative skills, including ability to prioritise a varied workload and to meet deadlines.
Personal qualities / Strong team player, but also able to work under own initiative and unsupervised.
Good judgement combined with creativity and a focus on delivering results.
A good team player who places emphasis on building open and supportive relations and working by example.
