The Agence de Régulation et de Contrôle des Télécommunications (ARCT), Bujumbura, announces that it has introduced a new National Numbering Plan (NNP) since 1 March 2007. The telephone network has increased from six (6) to eight (8) digits. Fixed subscriber numbers are preceded by the digit “22”. Subscriber numbers for the CDMA network are preceded by the digit “29” while mobile subscriber numbers are preceded by digits “76”, “77”, “78”, “79” respectively for ECONET, ONATEL, AFRICELL and TELECEL.

The Ministry of Posts and Telematics (MPT), Hanoi, announces a number of important changes in the Vietnam National Numbering Plan (NNP). The details of the changes are listed below.

Changes will be implemented in six cities including Thanh Hoa (area code = 37), Ha Tay (area code = 34), Nam Dịnh (area code = 350), Hai Duong (area code = 320), Kien Giang (area code = 77) and Da Nang (area code = 511). The landline telephony number in these cities will be extended from a six (6) digit number to a seven (7) digit number by adding digit “3” at the beginning of the old number.
