Australian Youth Humanities Forum

The Australian Youth Humanities Forum offers a humanities counterpart to the National Youth Science Forum. Hosted by the University of Melbourne, the Forum is part a festival of ideas, part careers fair and aims to re-imagine the role of the humanities in the future. It will bring together 130 students entering Years 11 and 12 in 2016, current undergraduate students in the arts from universities around Melbourne, and professionals working in humanities-related fields for two full days of guest lectures, interactive tutorials and round table discussions.

The Forum will address a substantial need affecting many VCE students. Future Arts students often state a desire to make some kind of social contribution after graduation but lack knowledge about how they can use degrees in the humanities to build careers which effect social change. By setting sessions devoted to the career pathways of humanities-trained professionals alongside prominent speakers’ reflections on the humanities in community life, the forum aims to equip participants with both practical information and civic inspiration.

Date:Wednesday 20 & Thursday 21 January 2016

Venue:The University of Melbourne

Registrations:Registrations close on 20 November 2015

To find out more and/or to register to attend this Forum, visit Australian Youth Humanities Forum.

Work Experience at Austin Health in 2016

Each year Austin Health places secondary school students from within the local community for work experience. This provides an opportunity to promote health professions to the youth of today who may become your workforce in the future. It also gives students the chance to observe a workplace and learn about the jobs available within the Health industry. This assists these individuals as it helps them to decide which career path suits them best. The Work Experience program is typically aimed at Year 10 students and placements are usually one week long. Applications have opened and students should note that placements are allocated on a "first come - first served" basis, and unfortunately not all departments are able to offer placements and not all weeks are available.

For further information and to download the application form, visit Austin Health Work Experience.
