It was a pleasure presenting to the CRC group on EndNote. I hope my introduction to EndNote gives you the basics you need to get started. I wanted to send you some links to useful EndNote resources:

VU Software Store link (EndNote will cost $53 with the discount you receive as a Vanderbilt affiliate): https://elms05.e-academy.com/vanderbilt/

You will have to log in, and then you can enter ‘endnote’ into the Product Search box. It will return several options. The one you want is ISI ResearchSoft EndNote X3. You will need to select PC or Mac, and either “departments” or “employee pymt by credit card,” depending on how you plan to pay for it.

EndNote website: http://www.endnote.com/

EndNote tutorials: http://www.endnote.com/training/

EndNote Tech Support is quite good: 800-336-4474. At the prompt press 4, and then select the "ResearchSoft Products" option.

Alternatively, Email Technical Support for EndNote from this link: http://science.thomsonreuters.com/techsupport/?prodname=EndNote%AE

EndNote User Forum: http://forums.thomsonscientific.com/ts/?category.id=endnote

This is a great (free) resource. There are expert users who know just about everything, as well as EndNote employees, who are happy to answer your questions.

Instructions for importing citations as a text file from PubMed (this was the batch import of a group of citations I demonstrated; handy for importing NCBI collections): http://www.endnote.com/support/faqs/import/faq1.asp It is crucial to change the PubMed display to ‘Medline’ before saving the citations as a text file. There is also a video tutorial of this process. Go to the tutorials link (http://www.endnote.com/training/) and watch the video titled “Importing Text Files.”

Someone asked about getting output styles for journals that are not already in the EndNote list of styles. The link for doing that is here: http://www.endnote.com/support/enstyles-terms.asp

That is a more advanced EndNote task, so new users might need some help figuring it out.

If anyone wants to set up a time for some hands-on training at the library, or if you need assistance using the program, feel free to contact me via email or phone.

Thanks again for having me come in to speak to the CRC. Have a great day!
