From the Principal:

Dear Griffin Parents & Students,

Welcome to the 2013-14 school year. I hope that you have had a great first 8 days of school. We have seen some amazing things during the first week and a half of school and we are confident that we are going to have our best year yet. As you know our campus has grown. We added a new grade level in college prep and opened a new high school building. We thank you for being patient as we have worked on figuring out the best systems for drop off and pick up.

As we begin the school year, we are committed to making sure that your son/daughter excels in their academics and is prepared for college. We can’t do it alone and we need your help with the following:

Please ensure that your son/daughter makes it to school on a daily basis. If they are not in school, they are missing out on important information.
Help us by making sure that you son/daughter stays in school the entire day. I understand that medical appointmentsare necessary, but please try to schedule them after school or during our ½ day releases.
A progress report or report card will go home every three weeks. Please keep track of your child’s academic progress and have an open line of communication with teachers to ensure that your son/daughter is getting the appropriate support.

TEACHERS OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to Maria Rios and Samuel Rodriguez, IDEA CP Alamo’s Employees of the Month for September 2013!! Mrs. Rios is the 11th grade ELA teacher who has exemplified COURAGE to lead her 11th grade team, DETERMINATION to get her 11th grade students ready for the ACT, EMPATHY to be able to build relationships with her students and fellow teachers, and WISDOM to serve as a role model teacher. Mr. Rodriguez is the 6th & 7th grade PE coach who has exemplified COURAGE to serve as a new teacher at IDEA CP Alamo, DETERMINATION to get his 6th & 7th grade students healthier through exercise, EMPATHY to be able to build relationships with his students and fellow teachers, and WISDOM to bring his expertise to the classroom. IDEA CP Alamo thanks Mrs. Rios and Mr. Rodriguez for displaying our core values, always being available to help out, and making this a great start for the 2013-2014 school year! Go-o-o-o griffins!

West Wing & Detention:

Below are some guidelines to inform you how West Wing and Detention work:

 Students are assigned to west wing when they do not turn in homework from the previous day. When students fail to turn in their homework, they are assigned to west wing for that afternoon.

 Students are assigned to detention after they receive 3 demerits on their merit/demerit card.

Transportation is not provided for west wing or detention.

SPIRIT SHIRTS

Spirit shirts are on sales now in the front office. Spirit shirts are to be worn with blue jeans, on Friday only. Shirts are $8. Cash or checks only.
