iPass Enhances its Integration with Cisco's Secure,

Standards-Based Enterprise Network Architecture

-- VPN Auto-Launch, Secure Session Auto-Teardown and Pre-Login Support for Windows NT/2000/XP Provide Faster Network Initialization, Improved Policy Enforcement and Greater User Convenience --

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- iPass® Inc., a premier provider of global connectivity services, has expanded the integration of its popular iPassConnect™ remote access software with Cisco Systems' VPN 3000 Concentrator and Pix Firewall enterprise networking products. These enhancements enable tighter enforcement of corporate network security policies, greater user convenience, streamlined network session initialization and improved employee productivity.

A new set of usability functions is being introduced with iPassConnect 2.2, the latest release of the iPass access client that connects users to the iPass Network. These enhancements are a direct result of iPass' participation in the Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data) Partner Program, a technology and marketing initiative between Cisco, iPass and other leading networking companies to develop and deliver innovative business solutions that interoperate through standard interfaces.

“When iPass joined the AVVID Partner Program last year as a security and VPN solutions member, they made a commitment to continuously upgrade and expand their integration with Cisco's enterprise-wide, standards-based enterprise network architecture,” said Name, Title at Cisco Systems. “These important new usability functions being introduced by iPass today represent a valuable contribution to our joint effort to deliver a framework for building and evolving customer networks that support Internet business solutions.”

Key Enhancements Introduced with the iPassConnect 2.2 Access Client

·  Auto-launch - Enables network users to enter their credentials into the network access client and establish both an Internet and VPN connection at the same time without further input or interaction. This makes it easier and faster for employees to utilize remote connectivity services, and eliminates the need for users to learn to operate the Cisco VPN software or enter multiple credentials.

·  Auto-teardown - Assures that an Internet session is automatically disconnected if the user does not connect to the VPN within the first 60 seconds of a session, or if the VPN connection is lost or disabled during a session. This assures that VPN security measures remain in effect at all times and helps enforce corporate network policies.

·  Pre-login support - Allows a user to activate both the iPassConnect access client and the VPN client before the Windows NT/2000/XP login process has been initiated. This enables users to be connected to the Internet and the VPN before logging into their local system and allows them to directly connect to the corporate domain when initializing their system, thus reducing activation time and increasing both convenience and productivity. It also permits corporations to enforce NT scripts when logging into the domain.

“iPass customers using Cisco VPN and enterprise networking solutions want the tightest possible integration between our technologies to establish and maintain strong security while preserving a high level of convenience and efficiency for their employees,” said Ken Denman, president and CEO of iPass. “Our ongoing development efforts will continue to focus on fulfilling the demand from our corporate customers for convenient, secure and reliable remote broadband, mobile and wireless connectivity into their corporate network resources.”
