  1. The new Honorary Secretary’s Job Specification, IOA Secretary Jobspec 040606.doc, was approved by the committee.
  2. The Chairman stated that no club or individual has approached him about the job of IOA Treasurer (he had highlighted this problem at the AGM and in a eGroup message in May). John Casey said he would stay on as Treasurer for one further year but that his resignation at the next AGM would be final. The IOA Executive committee are very grateful to John for this generous action.
  3. The chairman outlined how easy it was to get speakers for the evening presentations on Inishbofin and asked other committee members to bear this in mind for future get-togethers (events, planner/controller course, coaching course, junior weekends etc).
  4. Bernard Creedon has agreed to continue in the positions of IOA Anti-Doping officer and IOA Medical Officer.
  5. Nigel Campbell-Crawford will formally finish as SportIdent manager in May 2007. The chairman stated that during the summer he plans to circulate and draft a proposal for the future of the system.
  6. The Chairman highlighted the excellent work that Martin Flynn is doing on an online results database system which can hopefully be developed into a national member database.
  7. As there were two nominations for the 2006 Mactire award, the committee discussed the nominations and selected Alan Gartside as the winner. The 2006 awards have been published on orienteering.ie
  8. The Mapping Officer outlined the current status of the 2006 mapping grant scheme and indicated that he might hold some money back and agree separately with Pat Healy a list of areas for which to purchase diapositives from the OSI, even if no club explicitly asks for them.
  9. The Treasurer indicated that the IOA’s insurance quotation for 2006/2007 of €3,700 has been paid. It was noted that the policy includes a specific stipulation that Orienteering events must have first aid facilities and the Treasurer undertook to inform the clubs of this requirement. It was noted that a recent insurance issue with Fingal County Council has been resolved.
  10. All IOA bank account issues have been resolved by the Treasurer and there is now no impediment to the IOA becoming a Limited Company. The Treasurer will circulate a proposal for a suitable Directors and Board of Management structure.
  11. The Coaching Officer gave an update on the development of the LTAD and indicated that he hopes to run a coaching course soon.
  12. The Fixtures Secretary highlighted the difficulty he is having in communicating with the Munster Council. He will email all Munster clubs to let them know that the IOA has not received any formal nomination for a club to run IOC2006, even though informal representations have been made one individual club.
  13. The Fixtures Secretary informed the committee that the Leinster Council has disbanded. In order to help maintain a vibrant Leinster calendar, the Fextures Secretary undertook to work with the club contacts and Deirdre O’Neill to develop a new process for building an annual Leinster fixtures list, possibly based on one nominated club taking responsibility for this task each year.
  14. The 2007 Irish Orienteering Championships will be held in Callow Hill, Fermanagh, by FermO.
  15. The director of High Performance outlined his disappointment that so few orienteers were competing for a place on the WOC2006 squad and indicated that this may be due to the WOC now being an annual rather than a bi-annual event. The possibility of the IOA only sending a team to every second WOC was discussed but no formal proposal was made. It was noted that some orienteers who have received funding were declining selection for WOC2006 and that the rules will need to be updated to prevent this.
  16. There were no issues raised by the Juniors Representative.
  17. There were no issues raised by the Technical Officer.
