Sealed bids will be received at 875 Stevenson St., #420, San Francisco, CA 94103 until 2:30 PM November 14, 2007, after which they will be publicly opened & read. Plans, specifications & bidding documents are available at the same location; telephone 415-554-6229, for a non-refundable $150 fee paid by check to "Department of Public Works" (DPW). The work is selective site & building demolition; utility trenching & site excavation; constructing sidewalk, curb ramp, access ramp; fencing; landscaping; seismic upgrades; constructing new roof; casework; mechanical, plumbing, & electrical work; & all related work. Time allowed for completion is 495 calendar days. The Architect's estimate is in excess of $2,700,000. For more information, contact the project manager, Marilyn Thompson at 415-557-4202.

The Specifications include liquidated damages. Contract will be on a Lump Sum basis. Progressive payments will be made.

Bid discounts may be applied as per San Francisco Administrative Code Chapter 14B. Subcontracting goals are 14% LBE. Call Gary Wong at 415-558-4080 for details. Biddersare reminded that when purchasing manufactured equipment, LBE credit to meetsubcontracting goals may only be given if the manufacturer is a certified LBE vendor. See the Technical Specifications for lists of any manufactured equipment for this project. In accordance with Chapter 14B requirements, all bidders shall submit documented good faith efforts with their bids & attendance at a pre-bid conference is required as one of the good faith steps.

A pre-bid conference will be held October 30, 2007, at 9:30 AM, at Bernal Heights Branch Library, 500 Cortland Ave., S.F.

If the project is estimated to be in excess of $25,000 a corporate surety bond or certified check for ten percent (10%) of the amount bid must accompany each quote. San Francisco Administrative Code Sec. 6.22(A) requires all construction contracts awarded by the City & County of San Francisco to include performance & payment bonds for 100% of the contract award. Class "B" license required to bid.

In accordance with San Francisco Administrative Code Chapter 6, no bid is accepted & no contract in excess of $114,000 is awarded by the City & County of San Francisco until such time as (a) the Mayor or the Mayor's designee approves the contract for award & (b) the Director of Public Works then issues an order of award. Pursuant to Charter Section 3.105, all contract awards are subject to certification by the Controller as to the availability of funds.

Minimum wage rates for this project must comply with the current General Prevailing Wage as determined by the State Department of Industrial Relations. Minimum wage rates other than applicable to General Prevailing Wage must comply with San Francisco Administrative Code, Chapter 12P, Minimum Compensation Ordinance.
