SUMMARY

Genworth Financial has an opening for an Asia Risk Analyst. This position is based in Raleigh and is a part of the International Development Team with direct reporting to the Asia Risk Director. The ideal candidate is technically oriented, with a track record of success and strong interpersonal and project management skills. He/she must be capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Prior international experience is highly desired. Fluency in English is required; fluency in at least one Asian language is highly desired. The role, described in more detail below, will focus on risk management: research, analysis, and due diligence for Genworth's product suite in Asia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead market research and/or data analysis of new market entry in Asia, new products and business opportunities.
  • Co-ordinate with Asian platforms and other Genworth risk management groups to apply company-wide standards and share best practices.
  • Act as liaison among various HQ entities and local platforms to balance regional relevance and global consistency.
  • Assist in providing the portfolio management tools necessary to ensure the business is operating within the defined authority limits, and to ensure the operational execution is tracking with the stated goals of the business.
  • Assist in monitoring risk within Asian markets and establish methods and procedures to analyze and mitigate those risks, including Risk reporting functions like RADAR & Risk Exposure Monitoring (REM).
  • Prepare approval presentations and documentation on risk evaluation for new market entry, acquisition/due diligence, and new product opportunities.
  • Work on special strategic risk management projects as required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally on short notice and conduct business meetings at early/late hours to accommodate time zone requirements and deal deadlines.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Min. 3 -7 years of functional business experience (risk, finance, actuarial, consultancy, marketing, or product development). * Strong quantitative and analytical skills with formal education and/or demonstrated experience in risk management, finance, actuarial science, economics, or business.
  • Demonstrated business orientation, can correctly analyze business situation and foresee implications of major decisions with in-depth understanding of risk management and analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mobilize commitment from other functions. Resourceful self-starter, proactive, results and execution oriented team player.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities … High energy levels, "Can Do" attitude and works well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to facilitate and manage international projects and deliver business results, with limited direction from superiors, in a rapidly changing and complex cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Experience facilitating/managing and empowering others, and ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse international work group.
  • Strong communication, presentation (PowerPoint) and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to perform financial and data/risk analysis on PC utilizing Windows packages - Excel & Access or statistical software like SAS.
  • Resourceful, pragmatic and realistic approach to analysis with limited data and time.
  • Fluent in English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous international business experience.
  • Bachelor's level degree (Master's level degree highly desirable) and relevant work experience in Statistical/Numerical/Actuarial Science, International Business or Economics.
  • Experience in financial services, mortgage banking, or insurance.
  • Experience with due diligence, acquisitions and operational start-ups.
  • Experience working/living/studying in Asia.
  • Fluency in an Asian language, preferably Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Bahasa.
