Vacancy description / An exciting opportunity at the Met Police for a Band B on a 9- 12 month secondment to drive forward our strategic communications. This high profile role would be working with the existing communications team as well as senior officers across the MPS including the Commissioner’s and the Mayor of London’s offices.
Job profile: / Reporting to the Head of Media, the successful candidate would own the grid, run weekly planning meetings – horizon scanning and preparing for up and coming issue as well as co-ordinating rebuttals, where necessary.
The role holder will identify, plan and co-ordinate monthly proactive communications activity to support the organisational priorities – such as announcement of crime figures, role out of Met-wide initiatives such as enhanced officer safety (eg Taser), planning for the Commissioner’s quarterly meeting with the media and proactively co-ordinating campaign activity across all our channels.
The role holder would also be responsible for the strategic presentation of our performance data –establishing meaningful metrics and shaping how that data is presented.
Person specification: / -  A degree or professional communications qualification with at least four years relevant experience in a communications team working in or for a large organisation.
-  Experience of planning, developing and implementing communications strategies for a large organisation.
-  Track record of providing strategic advice on all management and reputational issues.
-  Strong leadership skills
-  Strong writing and editing skills.
-  Ability to recognise organisational risk and offer communications solutions to manage the risk.
-  Knowledge of all communications disciplines – existing and emerging – and their application in order to achieve set communications targets.
