JOB TITLE: Spring Equipment Set Up / SHIFT: 2nd
DEPARTMENT: Extension Springs - Operations / LOCATION: Sioux Falls, SD
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor / FLSA STATUS: Hourly
POSITION PURPOSE:
To set up spring coiler and looping equipment to achieve required customer specifications. Performs simple equipment maintenance (TPM) to ensure process operates efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
·  Review and plan production orders off EIQ or from supervisor/scheduler for production requirements.
·  Set up all coiling and looping equipment and make needed adjustments to achieve finished product that meets customer specifications. Fully knowledgeable with set up and operation of all equipment.
·  Replace or repair worn tooling to achieve quality production parts as required.
·  Inspect parts with calipers, tape measures, and occasionally with micrometers.
·  Maintain equipment, quality, safety and 5-S records.
·  Perform machine maintenance or part replacement to ensure production process operates efficiently. Submit Maintenance Work Orders as required. Report action to the Supervisor.
·  Clean work areas and assure tools provided are maintained properly and not lost or damaged.
·  Uses forklift or other lifting devices such as crane or hoist as necessary to perform operations.
·  Test springs with load tester per requirements.
·  Assist Supervisor with other duties as requested. This will include monitoring performance by operators in the area.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
·  Mechanical, maintenance and troubleshooting skills to achieve and sustain production readiness.
·  Ability to operate surface grinder, bench grinder and other misc. shop tools to repair/replace arbors, cutters or other essential tooling for spring production.
·  Knowledge of department production processes with accuracy and attention to details. Understanding of the impact on inventory control.
·  Exceptional personal performance, attendance and teamwork skills.
·  Ability to read work instructions, specifications, drawings, carton labels, etc. to a level to perform job duties.
·  Ability to perform basic math: add, subtract, divide and multiply numbers.
·  Effective written and verbal skills to communicate clearly and professionally and interact effectively with diverse peoples.
·  Ability to stand 8-10 hours on a regular basis.
QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
·  High School / GED required.
·  Must routinely handle up to 35 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds using safe work practices and teamwork.
·  Knowledge of or ability to learn how to read a caliper, micrometer and ruler as required.
·  Manufacturing/machine operation background. Machining background a plus.
·  Computer skills that will be used to log in and out of programs required. Will be required to edit machine programs to meet spring specification requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The work performed is conducted in a climate controlled facility with moderate noise levels that are within permissible OSHA limits. Steel toe shoes, hearing protection, gloves and safety glasses in the department.
