Instructions for the Talking Memo – Round: LIV 091 319 0000

About the digital talking memo:

The talking memo retains one 10-second message and is extremely simple to use. It has a magnet on the back to secure it to a fridge door or other ferrous metal surface.

The Memo has two function buttons only. The circular play button is located in the middle of the unit. It is 15mm in diameter and has a small, white arrow printed on it. This play button is surrounded by a collar that is 5mm wide; 8 small holes for the combined microphone/speaker are located in this collar around the play button. The lozenge-shaped recording button is located on the outer rim of the talking memo and is 15mm long; it is surrounded by a very thin groove.

A small, recessed indicator light on the front of the unit illuminates when a message is recording, flashes while you are playing back your message, and will turn off when you release the recording button or when the ten second recording time limit has been exceeded.

The red indicator light is located in the direction of 2 o’clock when the record button is at the 3 o’clock point and the front of the unit is towards you. The back of the unit contains the battery compartment, which is behind a circular door of 30mm diameter that has a 15mm-long groove molded in it; a small, indented arrow is at one end of this groove. The raised words “CLOSE” and “OPEN” that are molded in the case, and tactile, directional arrows below these words aid in unlocking and locking the compartment.

Initializing the recorder:

The Talking Memo magnet is shipped with one CR2016 battery, which is initially covered by a plastic shield that protects it during shipping and protrudes from the case. Remove the shield to start the unit by pulling it out. If it does not move freely, unlock the battery compartment on the back: insert a large coin into the slot on the battery compartment door and turn 20o to the left until you feel resistance. Gently pull the shield free, discard it and relock the battery door by turning it 20o to the right.

Replacing/Inserting Batteries:

Position the unit so that the battery compartment door on the back is facing you. The battery compartment is located directly in the middle of the back of the unit. Insert a large coin in the battery compartment door and turn 20o to the left until you feel resistance. Turn the recorder upside down and the battery cover should come free, or use a fingernail to lift the battery compartment lid up from the rim. The battery is partially held in place by a shoulder molded in the plastic. Remove the battery from this shoulder by placing a fingernail under the opposite edge of the battery and lift it out.

Insert a new CR2016 battery into the battery compartment with the smooth (positive +) side of the battery facing you. To close the battery compartment, line up the arrow at one end of the groove on the door with the raised word “CLOSE” on the case. Using a coin in the groove, turn the cover 20o clockwise until it stops. The door is now locked.

Recording a message:

Hold the recorder in the palm of your hand so that the front of the unit is facing you and your index finger is on top of the recording button. Hold the recorder approximately one inch away from your mouth, press and hold down the recording button. Speak clearly into the recorder for no more than 10 seconds. Release the button to stop the recording when you are finished.

The red LED indicator light located to the right of the play button will illuminate when a message is recording, and will turn off when you release the recording button or when the ten second recording time limit has been exceeded.

Listening to your recorded message:

To listen to your recorded message, press and release the play button located on the front of the unit, in the centre. You can stop playing the message anytime by pressing the play button once more.

Replacing an existing message:

To record over an existing message, simply follow the instructions above for “Recording a message”.

Erasing a message:

To erase a message, press and release the raised recording key located on the rim of the unit.
