INSTRUCTIONS FOR SESSION MODERATORS

Thank you for participating in the Global Conference for Chaplains in Higher Education, Bendigo, Australia, 2015.

Moderators carry responsibility for three important aspects of the presentations:

  1. They ensure that all presenters keep strictly to their allocated times so that there is sufficient time for discussion and formulation of outcomes.
  2. They ensure that participants in workshops, and people posing questions for paper presentations are respectful in their conduct.
  3. They encourage participants to complete and submit their feedback.

The conference organisers kindly ask you to refer to the following points to ensure that your session runs smoothly:

  1. Ensure all presenters are aware that their presentations must be uploaded at the Speakers Prep desk prior to the session.
  2. Kindly check the notice board in the lobby for any last minute changes to the program.
  3. Remind presenters of the time allocated to the overall session (55 minutes).

  1. Advise presenters that you will intervene a short time before their allocatedtime is up – at 5 minutes with a yellow card and at 1 minute with a red card.
  2. Familiarise yourself with the AV set up, and ensure that there is water available for presenters.

At the commencement of the session:

  1. Welcome delegates and introduce the title of each presentation and the presenter/s.
  2. Please announce any changes to the program BEFORE the session begins.
  3. Remind delegates to ensure that their mobile phones are switched off.
  4. Please, do not allow presenters to exceed their allocated time.
  5. Facilitate the group discussion/Q&A at the end of all paper presentations. Write down two (2) questions, just in case you need to start the discussion. (Workshops are interactive, and will likely be filled with discussion and activity.)

At the conclusion of the session:

  1. Thank the presenter.
  2. Direct the delegates to the feedback forms. (They should be completed before delegates leave.)
  3. Complete a Moderator’s Session Feedback Form and return to the Registration Desk. This form is confidential and your feedback will not be provided directly to presenters.

Thank you. We appreciate your participation and ability to moderate this session.

If you are in need of assistance, make contact with Julie Jerbic (ConferenceOrganiser), either at the Registration Desk or call 0422 158 889.
