Abstract

This document provides information and instructions for preparing a paper for the Topical Meeting on Microfactories (TMMF 2005). Please start with an abstract, giving a brief account of the most relevant aspects of the paper (50 to 100 words).

Key words: microfactory, MEMS, topical meeting, paper format

1. Introduction

All authors should submit the manuscript as an electronic file saved as the format of MS-Word or PDF. Although you can chose any paper size when you edit your manuscript on word processor, the size of printed area for text, pictures and tables should be in the size of 187 mm high and 125 mm wide. This document file has proper margins for the requirement using A4 size paper (A4 size: 210mm x 297mm). The manuscript should be written in English including figures, tables andreferences. The manuscript requires 6 pagesmaximum. If you really need to extend the page number, contact to the organizing committee. Follow the specification in this document to determine the layout of your pages.

The main body of the text (including the abstract) should be single-spaced and arranged in a single-column format. The whole paper (including the title) should be set in Times New Roman (or an equivalent typeface).

2. Paper title and authors

The title should be in 14 pt. bold and centered on the first line of the page. Only the first letter of the title should be capitalized except a proper noun, a chemical symbol, and so on.

The name(s) of author(s) should be in 10 pt. bold. It (They) should be centered under the title with proper space separating the title from author(s). Author’s affiliation should consist of department or division, university or company name. In case of the first author, a contact address should follow the affiliation along with his/her e-mail address. The affiliation and country of the other author(s) should be separated by a blank line. Each affiliation should have asterisk(s) or dagger(s) to recognize the author(s). All authors’ affiliation information should be in 9 pt. Italic.

3. Main body of the text and headings

The type size of the main body should be 10 pt. or the closest to it. When starting a new paragraph, please indent the line about 5 mm. Main heading and subheading should be 10 pt. bold and aligned to the left-hand side. If needed, sub-subheadings should be done similarly.

4. Equations

Equations should be typed if possible. Otherwise, they should be hand-lettered carefully in black ink. Equations should be centered and numbered consecutively with parentheses, which flush to the right-hand side.

(1)

(2)

At least a half width of line should be left between equations and text material.

5. Figures and tables

All line drawing and graphs should be drawn in black ink on white paper. Figures should be pasted into position on the typed pages as close as possible to the first reference to them. Only glossy photo-prints with high contrast are acceptable. Color prints will not be clearly reproduced. We cannot accept an order for color printing.

Each figure should have a space of approximately 2 lines above and 1 line below including numbered caption. The word ‘Figure’ should be shortened to ‘Fig.’ at the beginning of the figure caption. When you refer the figure in a sentence, reference number should be bold, and for example “Fig.1 is the logo mark of TMMF2005.”

Tables should follow the format for figures. Table 1 shows the typical form for a table. You can use any style of table as you want.

You can layout figures, tables and text material anywhere on the pages with consideration for balance of the space and materials.

6. Units

Units used in the manuscript should be expressed in Standard International Units (SI).

7. Conclusions

Your full paper file in CD-ROM medium and one hard copies must be brought to TMMF2005 conference site with you on 17th October, or send attached with e-mail to . Your paper will be published in a hard-covered booklet after reviewing. You can find and download this instruction file in MS word format at the TMMF conference web site,
