1. Course Descriptions.

This course provides an in-depth focus on the design and development of multimedia instructional materials. Emphasis will be placed on the design of technology rich learning environments that support meaningful learning. Discussion topics include instructional design, multimedia design principles, motivational design principles, Step by step design and development process along with hands-on activities in instructional multimedia.

3. Course Objectives.

Upon completion of the course, the students will be able to:

1)  Define Multimedia learning

2)  Discuss the differences between Multimedia learning and Multimedia instruction

3)  Explain at least three media design principles

4)  Compare well-designed instructional multimedia with poorly-designed instructional multimedia by employing multimedia design principles

5)  Explain motivational design principles.

6)  Create motivational design strategies based on the ARCS motivational design model

7)  Explain the benefits of using Augmented Reality in Education

8)  Analyze, Design, and Develop an instructional material using Augmented Reality

9)  Explain the components of usability testing

10) Create “Personal Web page” using Web authoring tools.

11) Create “Instructional multimedia Website” using Web authoring tools.

12) Combine audio and visual components into the “Instructional multimedia Website”

4. Attendance Policy.

Students are expected to attend all of the course meetings and complete both in-class & out-of-class learning activities. The instructor must approve excused absences.
