FLOAT now offers custom engraved boat name signs

Holland, MI . . . FLOAT has added custom signs to its repertory of decorative gifts and accessories. The company will be the exclusive distributor of a series of nautical signs created by FennValley Millworks.

“We are pleased to have these unique signs among our offerings,” says Susan Zalnis, FLOAT’s owner. “But what is particularly interesting is the way in which this pair of entrepreneurs got started in this business.”

FennValley Millworks was started in 2005 by Kathy & Mark Robinson. They had acquired CNC (computer numeric control) routing equipment to start a business. Unfortunately, due to the economic climate, the business did not perform as expected. So, they did what any other entrepreneurial couple would do – they began to brainstorm while on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.

While walking through the Vineyard’s many specialty shops, they noticed the popularity of differently styled wooden signs produced with a variety of distinctive sayings. Inspired, they returned to Michigan and began to experiment with their equipment, paint finishes and styles. Kathy’s affinity for sign design soon produced a collection of signs that Mark took to some Michigan shops to gage their level of interest. In one week, all the signs had been sold and orders for more had arrived.

Both Robinsons held full time positions until they realized that their lack of time was the only thing holding back this fledgling business. So Kathy now pursues FennValley Millworks as a full time venture.

FennValley Millworks supplies its beautifully engraved and custom painted signs to specialty retailers up and down the East Coast, Florida and throughout the Great Lakes region. Their new partnership with Float Interiors, LLC opens a new niche market – custom boating-related signs to marinas and yacht clubs.

FLOAT specializes in coastal décor, nautical gifts and accessories for yacht and shoreline living. Custom signs and other unique products can be seen at the Yacht Basin Ship’s Store in Holland, Michigan, or visit FLOAT on line at www.floatinteriors.com.
