INTERVENTION TIME: Each day the students have a 40 minute period of Intervention Time. Students are identified for this service through quarterly diagnostic assessments.

LOCKERS: Every Student is assigned their own locker. There are NO locks permitted on lockers. Students are NOT permitted to share lockers.

PROGRESS BOOK: Students and parents will use the same Progress Book accounts issued in 4th grade. These same accounts will be the same for the rest of their child’s Nordonia school career. If you never set up an account and/or no longer have the same registration key you were given at the beginning of 4th grade, directions are on the Progress Book page on the district website, under the parents tab. It’s important that parents and students have their own account. User names and passwords are given to allow the parents and students the ability to see homework assignments, grades, attendance, and report cards. Contact information for teachers can also be located on the planner tab.

SCHOOL FEES: School Fees will be posted on the district website

SPECIALS: The Students have Specials Classes – ART, MUSIC, ADVISORY, and PHYSICAL EDUCATION. These classes will rotate daily throughout the year.

STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOKS: Students are given a Daily Planner/Handbook on the first day of school. This book helps students with organization and communication between home and school.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM: Students are required to read over the summer. All 5th grade students entering into Lee Eaton for the 2017-18 school year are required to read From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankenweiler By E. L. Konigsburg, plus a book of their choice. Sixth grade students will read 2 books of their choice. All students will complete 2 assignments, one for each book. These will be turned in at the start of the school year.

TEAM STRUCTURE: The concept of teamwork plays a vital role in the success of any organization and in the individual life of each student. At Lee Eaton Elementary each student is placed on an Academic Learning Team. Teams will be constructed on 2-4 Core Teachers who will be teaching the Core Subjects of Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Students attend lunch in the cafeteria each day by hallway and also go to recess with the same students. We feel this schedule helps our students to have a vital connection with a homeroom class teacher and retain the closeness needed, but also allows for flexibility and movement to promote the independence that students develop during this stage of their life.
