1.INTRODUCTION

This post of Finance Officer is to be employed by the Inspire and Achieve Foundation to assist the Director in the financial administration of the charity.

INSPIRE AND ACHIEVE FOUNDATION (IAF)

IAF is a charity that is currently based in North Nottinghamshire that supports young people who are not in education, employment and training (NEET) progress into employment or education. The Foundation runs outreach projects, mentoring, training programmes and work experience programmes and is firmly focused on meeting the needs of the local young people who are NEET and aged 16-24.

  1. THE APPOINTMENT

Description:

This is afantastic opportunity foran experienced bookkeeper who feels that they could complete this role competently and independently on a part time basis (1 days a week). As Finance Officer you will be completing much of the financial administration for the charity, including payments, invoicing, managing petty cash, recording trial balance transactions, supporting the management account process, and submitting financial claims to various funders.

The successful candidate will need to have experience in a bookkeeping/ accountancy role, and will be able to help the charity streamline its financial procedures/systems. As a small charity with a turnover of approximately £300k expected for 2017/18 the finance function is currently managed via Microsoft Excel. The ability to work on your own initiative is essential.

Ideally the successful candidate must feel passionately about helping others within society, and must believe in the work we do.

The post carries a commitment of 7.5 hours per week, and the contract will be for 1 year (with a view that this will be extended upon funding being secured). Enhanced DBS check will be required as the charity works with vulnerable young people.

  1. THE POST

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile financial returns for funders and other finance related information as required by funders and the Director
  • Manage and track petty cash spend across the charity
  • Administer the monthly payment processand record trial balance transactions.
  • Raise invoices and any other financial tasks as required.
  • Assist with the implementation of streamlining and improving financial processes and systems within the charity, including reviewing the cost code system, and cash and payment tracking systems.

Other Responsibilities:

  • To uphold and promote IAF policies and procedures, promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work, including the Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety and safeguarding policies and procedures and attend training as requested.
  • To comply with the Foundations own safeguarding policy and practices and attend training as requested.
  • To present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the Foundation.
  • To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.
  • Keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient executing of your job, with new legislation, procedures and techniques.
  • To maintain strict confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Experience of accounting, book keeping or equivalent financial management
Experience of compiling, analysing, interpreting and presenting financial data

Qualifications:
Bookkeeping/Accountancy Qualification/ or equivalent Industry experience

6.TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • The post is offered on a fixed term contract and is subject to those terms and conditions.
  • The salary will be £4,800per annum (7.5 hours a week)
  • You will be entitled to 42 hoursleave per annumincluding bank holidays where it co-insides with agreed working days.
  • The post holder is to be based in the charity offices in Mansfield

7.THE POSITION WITH THE ORGANISATION

The post-holder will report directly to the Director.
