Insight Research Assistant Volunteer

Task description

Christian Aid volunteers make an important contribution to Christian Aid’s work by extending the capacity of Christian Aid staff. As Insight Research Assistant you will be working as part of the Supporter and Community Partnerships Department helping Insight achieve its vision of fundraising, campaigns and communications become celebrated and understood across Christian Aid.
The work that the Supporter and Community Partnerships Department (SPD) does is crucial to helping achieve Christian Aid’s vision of an end to poverty. As a member of the Insight team you will be helping to champion and improve the work that SPD does, thus improving Christian Aid’s ability to tackle the causes of poverty.

What will I do?

  • Assist Insight Team to actively recruit for and administer focus groups to inform Christian Aid’s audience insight programme
  • Assisting with research and analysis on other priority areas for Christian Aid
  • Assisting with research fieldwork
  • Assisting with the administration of the Insight Team’s delivery of research and insight training courses
  • Working corporately with other departments within Christian Aid
  • Contributing to the Insight Team activities and meetings

What skills do I need?

Essential:
  • Ability to work with autonomy and initiative as well as part of a team
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Good administration skills
  • Online research skills
  • Comfortable liaising with members of different teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Desirable:
  • Background in research and/or insight
  • Understanding of the NFP/Fundraising sector
  • Interest in poverty alleviation and international development

How much time can I give?

We are looking for someone to start immediately. Ideally we would like applicants to volunteer for a minimum of 2 days a week, although we are flexible around what you are able to offer. Our volunteering opportunity can be part-time to fit around your other commitments. This is an ongoing opportunity, depending on your availability and projects undertaken. Focus groups may take place outside of core hours and volunteers would be welcome to attend. Once placement is available.

What support will I receive?

As a volunteer you will receive:
  • Individual support and supervision from a named contact within Christian Aid, including one-to-one sessions.
  • Appropriate induction and training for your volunteering role.
  • Quarterly volunteer e-newsletter.
  • Out-of-pocket expenses - up to £15 a day.
