Fifth Transnational Project meeting

Fifth Transnational Project meeting for “Innovation, Development and communication for a better education in Prison System” (IDECOM) that is carried out cooperation with consortium formed by prisons, universities and other organizations from Romania, Portugal, Moldova and our General Directorate, financed under the Erasmus + Plus Program by the European Commission is conducted in Ankara on 23-24 February 2017 at Limak Ambassador Hotel by the participation of foreign Project partners. Deputy Director General Mr. Burhanettin ESER responsible for Projects and Rapporteur Judge Hüseyin Şık and other relevant experts representing the General Directorate as well as participants from Timisoara Prison, Timisoara West University, CPIP,IPS-Innovative Prison Systems-, Beira University, Moldavia Prison Service and Europris (European Organisation of Prison and Correctional Services) that are project partner institutions participated in the meeting.

Opening of meeting hosted by General Directorate started with speech of Mr. Burhanettin Eser. In his opening and welcome speech made to our guests, he expressed his satisfaction of conducting a dynamic, efficient and productive partnership in this project by mentioning the importance we give to the projects. Mr. Eser stated that training outputs that are developed under project will be included in the pre-service and in-service trainings that are conducted in our staff training centers. Mr. Eser wished the meeting to be productive stating that the IDECOM Project, which is one of the many successful projects that our General Directorate conducted, is also an important circle of close collaboration that we hope to continue with our partners in the future.

In transnational meetings that are held in every six months, while assessing the project’s past period activities , the planning is also done for the future activities. Furthermore, the opinions are exchanged about project outputs. Plans were made at the meeting to decide which tools are to be used especially for the promotion and dissemination of the project.

With the project, planned to be completed in August 2017, it is aimed to provide an innovative and interdisciplinary approach and a spirit of entrepreneurship for the staff training. Under project, curriculum regarding innovation, entrepreneurship, team work, information technologies, and communication competencies is developed. For these curricula, national and international training activities are being carried out. Under Project, up to now 36 prison staff attended national pilot trainings in 3 curriculum subject and pilot practices are conducted for prisoners. For this 3 curriculum subject, 9 of our staff participated to training titled “Innovation” under short term international trainings in Portugal. 9 staff will attend “Entrepreneurship” training to be conducted in Romania in April.
