  1. INFORMATION SHARING, ASSESSMENT AND DISCUSSION
  • Identify what is going well for each child and for the family
  • Identify what people are worried about for each child and the family including concerns arising from past harm
  • Share the wishes and feelings of the children
  • Develop and agree a danger statement – who is worried about what in the future if nothing changes
  • Identify level of risk to child / children
  • Develop Safety Goals
  • Identify what needs to happen next in order for people to be less worried about the child / children’s safety.
  • Decision on whether child / children should be made the subjects of Child Protection Plans and if so under which category
  1. FUTURE MEETINGS
  • 1ST Core Group (within 10 working days of conference)
  • 1st Review Child Protection Conference or Child in Need Review meeting (must be within 90 calendar days)

Please remember that this is a confidential meeting where personal and sensitive information is shared and information discussed at the meeting must not be disclosed outside the meeting except to other agencies bound by confidentiality in order to carry out the child protection plan or to protect any child from significant harm. If you take documents out of the room it is your responsibility to keep them safe.

Health and Safety
Should you hear an alarm, and it is not a planned test, please follow the Chairperson outside to the muster point and stay together.
Recording- The conference will be recorded on audio tape to assist with the accuracy of the written record. The audio tape will be deleted after the next conference or at 6 months.

  • Chair’s summary of situation at last conference
  • Review of the last Child Protection Plan
  • Identify what has been going well for each child and the family
  • Identify what people may still be worried about for each child and the family including concerns arising from past harm
  • Share the wishes and feelings of the children
  • Review the existing danger statement – who is worried about what in the future if nothing changes
  • Identify current level of risk to child / children
  • Review and develop safety goals if required
  • Identify what needs to happen next in order for any worries about the children’s safety to reduce.
  • Decision on whether child / children should remain the subjects of Child Protection Plans and if so under which category.

3. FUTURE MEETINGS

  • Core Group meeting (within 6 weeks)
  • Review Child Protection Conference (about 5 months, but must be within 180 calendar days) or
  • Child in Need Review meeting within 3 months
