Information for Teacher of Motor Vehicle

The Post

We are looking for a well-qualified and inspirational teacher. This is an excellent opportunity to join the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The person appointed must have a lively and stimulating approach to teaching and learning, the ability to teach to a high academic standard at level 2 and level 3, and a commitment to the learning and well-being of all young people.

The Directorate

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Directorate is an energetic and supportive team. The work of the teachers is ably supported by a full time Curriculum Administrator and a team of experienced technicians.

The Directorate has been actively involved in the continual development of schemes of work and resources, and the continual improvement of these is priority. All members of the staff have some delegated responsibility and new colleagues would be expected to make a full contribution. All teachers are expected to have a subject specialism, while the flexibility to teach across subjects is encouraged.

Accommodation and Resources

One is fortunate to be able to offer students and teachers access to outstanding accommodation and resources commissioned to the highest specifications. Considerable thought has been given to providing facilities that allow for both specialist teaching and flexible and innovative practice.

In the technology area the students are taught in purpose built motor vehicle and engineering workshops all with highly specified equipment and tools. Those studying Engineering will have access to CAD/Cam, 3D laser printers, Vacuum moulding machines and much more.

All our learning spaces have interactive Promethean boards, and relevant teaching areas contain bespoke fume cupboards, Mounted Engines, Engineering kits designed by specialist companies and a plethora of resources for students to access a full range of practical studies.

The Directorate has its own base-room where the team work together on a daily basis.

Courses Offered

Motor Vehicle - The college currently offers full time Institute in motor industry (IMI) courses in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles. At present we run Level 2 and Level 3, each course is over one year. A majority of the students that enrol look to progress into employment within the motor vehicle industry and some choose higher education at university.
