CONTRACT POSITION

JOB TITLE: MUSIC FACILITATOR (BASED IN ULUNDI)

SALARY : NEGOTIABLE

Background

Under limited supervision the music facilitator will teach more than one instrument namely (Bass and Lead Guitar, Keyboard, Drums, saxophone , etc. and this will include practical techniques and associated aural, theory and musical appreciation skills. He/she will also provide guidance on a wider musical level, which can range from introducing the student to new styles of music during lesson time to encouraging them to make music with others, at the centre (Indonsa) or in the community. The incumbent will be required to conduct afternoon classes and as an when necessary.

Main tasks / Typical work activities

  • planning and organizing resources for lessons, as appropriate to the pupil;
  • adapting lesson resources and tailoring teaching methods to the needs of the individual;
  • instructing and appraising pupils;
  • encouraging pupils to persevere where they do not appear to be making progress;
  • teaching the use of music technology software where appropriate;
  • completing written reports and assessments for trainees and also attendance records;
  • collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues;
  • keep students informed of community events such as concerts and anything music related;
  • participate in student recruitment, registration, placement activities
  • organize performance groups, and direct their rehearsals;

  • Learning Strategies – Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.

  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peer, or Subordinates – Providing information to supervisors, co- workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work – Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Scheduling Work and Activities – Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
