In this activity students will fill in a report about a robbery.

Procedure

Ask the students if anyone has had their house broken into, car stolen, car radio stolen, or bicycle stolen. When did it happen? Did they or family report it to the police? Was the stolen property found?

Discuss how important it is to give detailed information when reporting a robbery.

Give the students the list of four crime situations in Activity One: The Story. Ask them to choose one story and complete Activity One: Police – Report:

Optional: Give the students Activity Two: Police – Damage or Stolen Property Report. Here they will list what items were stolen or damaged.

Presentation

Ask the students to present their reports.

Variations on a theme

Tell the students that they have to write a one page report for their police station commander. The report must include all the details from the Crime Report.

The report should also include:

  • suggestions how you would conduct the investigation.
  • who you believe could be suspects.

I Was Robbed – Activity One

Choose one of the situations below and prepare a police report

Story 1

One evening you come home from the cinema and find the front door of your house / apartment open. When you push the door you see the house is turned up-side down. You see that the television in the living room is missing. You walk around your home and notice other things missing too. You call the police.

Story 2

Your family drives to the mall. You need a pair of sport shoes and your brother needs a new pair of jeans. After two hours you go look for the car and find that it’s gone. You check everywhere, but can’t find it. You go to the mall security.

Story 3

You packed your school bag in the morning and put you cell phone inside. During a break you go to call your mother to tell her that you will be going to a friend's house after school. Your phone is gone. You go to the school's secretary to report the theft.

Story 4

You ride your bicycle to school and lock it to the bicycle rack. When you leave school you find your front tire still locked but the rest of the bicycle gone. You go to the school's secretary to report the theft.
