KenTon Newsletter April 2013

From the Director- Welcome to April! We were sad to see Miss Karen leave us. She came through her surgery well and is off to California. I am excited to take over for her. I am busy learning all the aspects of the school and it’s coming along nicely. Now that April is here we will be going outside more. Please make sure your child is wearing sneakers. They are the safest. Enjoy Spring!!! We certainly will this month!!

Miss Millie

Nursery 1 – Miss, Nicole, our cook has been busy making our homemade baby food!!! Besides apples, peas, bananas and sweet potato we offer fresh mango, avocado and apple papaya. I am very excited to be able to offer your baby such a variety of healthful fruits and vegetables.

Though we anticipate our usual “April Showers” we hope to go outside on clear days. Please be sure to pack hats and gloves in addition to appropriate coats and jackets for the season!

To conclude here are some simple strategies, according to the “NYS early Learning Guidelines” , that we use here, and you can do at home to promote development and learning for your infant…..

  1. Talk and sing with your child frequently, especially during feeding and diaper changes.
  2. Read and look at books with your child.
  3. Give your child a sense of security when around unfamiliar settings.

Miss Mary

Nursery 2 – We’re so happy that we can take a ride on the bye bye buggy, now that the weather is changing. Please bring appropriate clothing for these walks. We’ll make some pretty flowers, butterflies and bugs this month. Well use paint, paper, glue and our hands to make these items. Happy Spring!!

Toddler 3- April is here and it is all about Spring things. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. We will be talking about weather changes. Why does it rain so much? What will start to grow? We’ll try to grow some grass and flowers too.

Bumblebees, butterflies, ladybugs and ants are part of our spring critters we will make.

We will continue to work on potty training and alphabet sounds. We are also going to learn our last names and our Mommy and Daddies. We are going to try and get as much fresh air as we can. Please make sure our friends have the appropriate outwear everyday.

We would like to wish our friends, Juliana B, Brayden and Ellie a Happy Birthday. They were born in this lovely month of April.

Miss Sue

Preschool 1-, April is here… warm weather too we hope. Preschool 1 will be going outside as much as possible. Sneakers and play clothes are the best thing to wear for this activity.

This month we want to focus on all types of animals and their habitats. We will learn about animals that live on the farm, on safari, in the zoo and in our own backyards. Preschool 1 will have fun matching baby animals with their mommies, sorting animals by their habitats, and learning new songs about the wonderful animals that live among us.

Miss Cheryl

Preschool 2 – The month of April , Preschool 2 will learn all about our Earth. To get a hands on experience, we will play outdoors whenever the weather permits us. Please be sure your child has sneakers and comfy play clothes.

We will learn about taking care of our earth by recycling, reducing, and reusing. We will talk about pollution and try to clean up any litter we can find.

Preschool 2 will learn what our earth is made up of. We will learn new vocabulary such as rocks, soil, crust and mantle. We will take care of plants and plant a garden. Plants help our earth and we will find out why.
