Improvement Advisor – Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN)

The Iowa Healthcare Collaborative (IHC) is seeking a full time Improvement Advisor. The Improvement Advisor willwork closely with hospitals and physicians to promote hospital best practices and deploy clinical initiatives that improve quality, patient safety and value.

  • Work closely with an identified group of hospitals to develop and deploy community work plans to improve patient safety and care coordination.
  • Identify steps necessary to develop a well-designed project aimed at achieving improvement targets.
  • Identify stakeholders and clinical and process improvement resources necessary to implementperformance improvement.
  • Be the lead content planner/coordinator in developing details for improvement strategies identified in the Partnership for Patients initiative.
  • Provide education and act as a resource to hospitals in support of the HIIN Network initiatives.
  • Assist in monitoring the spread of implementation of practices among hospitals, including other measures of campaign success.
  • Develop organizational understanding of patient safety and quality as they impact data analysis and reporting.
  • Participate in writing and development of IHC communications.
  • Participate in the development and updating of IHC toolkits.
  • Work with IHC partner organizations on the execution of strategies to engage physicians, pharmacists and other partners in the clinical community on healthcare quality improvement efforts.
  • Perform basic data analysis and interpretation as needed.
  • Other duties within IHC as assigned.
  • Mostly in-state travel may be required, up to 50%.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university program in nursing and the equivalent of five years of full-time professional level experience in nursing and/or program administration, development, management or operations preferred.

Experience with quality improvement initiatives in clinical practice and/or hospital settings strongly preferred. Understanding of the purpose and functions of various local, state and federal regulatory agencies and an understanding of hospital, medical staff and health issues is required.

Experience with Excel preferred. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
