Dec. 21-Jan.3—Winter Break

Dear Parents:

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Please make sure your child is coming to school with appropriate clothing. If there is snow, children must have jacket, boots, snow pants, hats and gloves to be able to play in the snow. If a child is not dressed appropriately they will either have to stay on the sidewalk or stay inside. Also, please make sure to try and label as much of your child’s snow gear as possible. You would be amazed at how many snow pants and gloves can look alike.

Students should have brought home their homework packet. In reading and math we will be taking the district local assessment in the upcoming weeks and are continuing our work on the Main Topic and details for non-fiction and parts of a story (characters, setting, beginning, middle and end) for fiction and for finding a missing part in math. In social studies we will be discussing needs and wants just in time for the holidays. Please continue to help students remember to return their homework on Mondays and library books on Tuesdays.

As you can see it’s a busy month. Wednesday morning your child will be receiving a free bicycle helmet courtesy of Central DuPage Hospital. Also on Wednesday, the book fair has its Family Night from 4:00-7:00. The book fair runs through December 2nd so the kids may bring in money if you would like them to be able to purchase books. The book fair is buy one, get one free so it’s a great time to stock up on books. If you need anything please send a note, email () or call. As always have a great week!
