WELCOME TO WORSHIP AT IMMANUEL

Pastor Kevin Muyskens

June 25, 2017

Morning Worship: Jesus gave the Lord’s Prayer as an example to his disciples of how to pray. Church Catechisms throughout the centuries have regularly taught on the Lord’s Prayer, and the Heidelberg Catechism calls prayer the “most important part of the thanksgiving God requires of us.” This morning we begin a series on the prayer Jesus taught us starting with the foundational question: Why do we pray?

Communion: In morning worship today we have the privilege of sharing in the Lord’s Supper. We see this celebration as a sacrament in which we by faith receive Christ and all his benefits. Those who have publicly expressed their faith and maintain membership in good standing of a church that teaches Christ as the only means of salvation are invited to participate.

Afternoon Worship (approximately 12:30 pm): For lunch we “crossed over” into the new fellowship hall. We served from the new kitchen and ate over the new carpet. Yet, as Joshua and the people of Israel found, crossing over is much like a commencement – it isn’t the conclusion of one phase of life but the beginning of another. This new phase will be full of challenges for which require our identity to be firmly established in our relationship with God.

Prayer Praises & Concerns

Continue to pray for the building project: those who are doing the work, those who are making decisions, and those who are inconvenienced by it. As The project approaches completion, all involved just want to see it done. Pray that we all finish well the work and waiting that remains.

Continue to pray for the goals process. The goals have been written and tasks prescribed; now the hard work begins. Pray for our teams, committees, ministries, and the council as we forge ahead in our mission to Radiate Christ’s Love to Our Neighbors.
