#mlatechcamp
●The ETSC successfully hosted and ran the #mlatechcamp pre-conference on Jan 31st 2018 at the MLA 2018 Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon.
●The total number of attendees was 62. ETSC would like to thank all of these attendees for participating and making the day such a success.
●Presentation Materials from the meeting have been deposited to Humanities Commons
Blog posts
●ETSC agreed at the their 2018 Business Meeting in Portland, OR that each member of the committee would contribute at least one blog post to the MLA Blog over the coming year. These blogs will be focused on emerging technology developments that might be of interest to the MLA membership, including Project Management tools, captioning for streaming video, Optical Music Recognition, and the pros and cons of cloud vs network storage options.
Programming for 2019 Annual Meeting
●ETSC are preparing a proposal for a post-conference event for the 2019 Annual Meeting in St.Louis, on Sunday 02/24/2019. This event will be a Wikipedia edit-a-thon focused on editing or creating Wikipedia entries for unrepresented and/or underrepresented performers and composers, living or deceased, who were born in St. Louis and/or lived and worked there, who have been excluded from existing documentation, notably members of marginalized communities. The event will be free of charge and open to the public. ETSC plan on applying for a Wikimedia Foundation Rapid Grant to cover costs. It is hoped that the event will attract members of the local community in St. Louis in addition to MLA members. ETSC are currently in discussions with St.Louis Public Library about hosting the event there.
