ADOPTION OF MINUTES.

On the proposal of Councillor G. Warnock seconded by CouncillorP. Loughreythe minutes

of Committee Meeting of Longford Municipal District held on the 27th January 2016,

as circulated,were confirmed and adopted.

On the proposal of Councillor G. Warnock seconded by CouncillorP. Loughrey the minutes

of Monthly Meeting of Longford Municipal District held on the 27th January 2016,

as circulated,were confirmed and adopted.

UPDATE ON THE PROVISION OF BUS PARKING AT ST. JOSEPH’S NATIONAL

SCHOOL, DUBLIN ROAD, LONGFORD.

Mr. Eamon Bennett, Senior Executive Engineer, is in consultation with the Acting School Principal regarding Bye-Laws for the area. An update will be provided at the next Municipal District Meeting.

UPDATE ON ONGOING PARKING PROBLEMS AT SOCIAL WELFARE

OFFICES.

B. Heslin updated the members regarding a meeting with representatives from the Department of SocialProtection and the Office of Public Works regarding the ongoing parking problems at the Social Welfare offices. The OPW and DSP have developed revised plans for additional parking at the offices and OPW are to arrange a pre-planning meeting with Longford County Council.

Draft Tidy Town Signs.

Draft wording for the new Tidy Towns Signs, incorporating Longford’s success in the 2015

IBAL Awards, was considered by the members. The following amendments were agreed -

1.Ireland's Cleanest Town moved up onto main sign.

2. ibal award winner moved down to replace Ireland's cleanest Town.

3. Wording also changed to Overall Winner with the first letter in each word to be capital

Letters.

UPDATE ON THE TAKING IN CHARGE OF “DUN DARRACH” HOUSING

ESTATE, DUBLIN ROAD, LONGFORD

E. Bennett informed the meeting that a number of legal issues are being clarified regarding

the taking in charge of Dun Darrach Housing Estate.

This item to remain on the Agenda for the Municipal District.

UPDATE ON TOWN FOOTPATH SURVEY AND PREVIOUSLY AGREED

TRAFFIC MEASURES.

It is anticipated that the Town Footpath Survey will be completed by the next MD Meeting.

NOTICE OF MOTION.

Roadway into the Primary Care Centre in the Flancare Environs.

The following Notice of Motion was proposed by Councillor S. Butler and seconded by

Councillor G. Warnock -

“That Longford Municipal District Council requests the Executive to put in motion the

taking in charge procedure for the roadand roadway area into the PrimaryCare Centre

in the Flancare environs’.

E. Bennett, having checked the condition of the road, updated the meeting regarding the current status of the road and roadway area into the Primary Care Centre at Flancare. Responsibility for the condition of the road rests with the developers. It was agreed that Longford County Council would check if planning enforcement options were possible. An update would be provided at the next meeting.

MULTI-ANNUAL RESTORATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME 2016 – 2018.

Maps were circulated to the members outlining the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Roads

Programme. E. Bennett replied to queries raised by the members.

The Multi-Annual Restoration Improvement Programme 2016 – 2018, as circulated, was

approved by the members of the Municipal District.

MULTI-ANNUAL RESTORATION MAINTENANCE 2017 – 2019. RESTORATION

MAINTENANCE – REGIONAL & LOCAL ROADS.

The Multi-Annual Restoration Improvement Programme 2016 – 2019, as circulated, was

considered by the members of the Municipal District. E. Bennett to consult with members

and revert to the next meeting of the Municipal District.

Severe Weather Allocation.

The meeting was informed that Longford County Council received €1.2m under the Severe

Weather Allocation. Another submission will be made by the Council to the Department before

the end of April 2016.

SCHEDULE OF LONGFORD MUNICIPAL DISTRICT WORKS2016.

The Schedule of Longford Municipal District Works for 2016, as circulated, was approved

by the Members.

Dangerous Trees - Councillor P. Loughrey.

Councillor P. Loughrey requested that the Local Authority brings to the notice of landowners

and occupiers of land the potential hazards and dangers to road users where trees, shrubs,

hedges or other vegetation are not maintained. The media were also requested to highlight

this issue.

Parkrun Ireland.

It was agreed that Parkrun Ireland be allowed to use the Mall for free weekly timed runs to be

held on Saturday mornings. Coral Leisure to be informed and this arrangement to be

reviewed in two months.

IBAL Public Art Feature.

On the proposal of Councillor J. Browne seconded by Councillor G. Warnock, it was agreed

that Councillor Seamus Butler represent Longford Municipal District on the Sub-Committee

which will consider an appropriate Art Feature in recognition of Longford’s success in the

IBAL Awards 2015.

Art Feature at St. Michael’s Road/Richmond Street, Longford.

The location of the Art Feature at St. Michael’sRoad/Richmond Street to be examined.

Parking at St. Emer’s National School.

Revised draft plans were prepared by the Board of Management and these will be circulated to the members. P.Loughrey agreed to raise the issue at the next Board of Management meeting.

This item to be included on the Agenda for the next meeting of the Municipal District.

Sign for Veterinary Practice at Shroid, Longford.

The signage which was put in place indicating the Veterinary Practice at Shroid, Longford was discussed.

Next Meeting

It was agreed by the members to fix the next meeting for 6th April, combining the March and April meetings.

This concluded the business of the meeting.
